Fallout: Did Maximus Hurt Dane? Dane’s Foot Injury in the Explained?
In the Fallout finale, it was finally revealed whether it was Aaron Moten‘s Maximus who injured Dane in the first episode of the series. In the grand finale of Fallout, the Amazon Prime Video series finally solved one of its most intriguing mysteries: who hurt Dane at the beginning of the first season? In the first episode, Dane, played by Xelia Mendes-Jones, finds himself seriously injured after someone puts razor blades in their boots, causing serious cuts. This led to the promotion of Maximus, played by Aaron Moten, while Dane found himself incapacitated. The mystery of who was responsible remained unanswered for much of the season, with most of the Brotherhood of Steel suspecting Maximus. However, in the grand finale, the truth is finally revealed.
Fallout: Did Maximus Hurt Dane? Dane‘s Foot Injury in the Fallout Premiere Explained?
In the premiere, not long after Xelia Mendes-Jones‘ Dane is anointed and assigned as a knight’s squire, the up-and-coming member of the Brotherhood of Steel finds herself gravely injured. It turns out that someone put razor blades in his boots, causing cuts severe enough to prevent him from going into the wasteland. This caused Maximus to get the promotion. It’s a mystery that the series left unanswered for almost the entire first season, but most members of the Brotherhood have speculated that Maximus was behind it.
Did Maximus Hurt Dane in Fallout?
The topic of Dane‘s wounding returns in Fallout‘s big finale, when Maximus is brought back to Filly. Once he arrives, he is asked why he is wearing knight’s red (the uniform that power armor users wear under their suits). Maximus admits that his knight was killed in action, to which Quintus (the leader of the local Brotherhood sect) points out that this is not the first time that a comrade of Maximus has fallen from grace.
Quintus accuses Maximus of lying on both occasions, which almost leads to the emerging Brotherhood member losing his life, especially when it turns out that the head brought by Maximus is not the one everyone is looking for. Before a knight can kill Maximus, Dane steps forward and admits that she harmed herself. It turns out that Mendes-Jones’ character was terrified of being assigned to the wasteland, so much so that cutting himself with razor blades in his boots seemed like a solid backup plan. While this might be considered an absurd rationalization, this is the wasteland of Fallout after all.
Maximus has done some questionable things throughout the series, but harming his close companion, Dane isn’t one of them. After all, with Aaron Moten‘s Maximus having received an offer from Brotherhood of Steel leader Quintus to move up the ranks, his character will likely remain in his faction for a while yet, perhaps even longer than just two episodes. The entire Brotherhood faction could use a little more iron in the fire on screen, and Maximus and Dane make a strong duo to follow within its ranks. Maybe, if they stay together, Dane will even meet Ella Purnell‘s Lucy.
Fallout is now available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
