Eternals: Chloé Zhao Reveals Whose Voice She Is In The Scene With Dane Whitman Aka Black Knight

And here's how that character is connected to Dane Whitman's character: everything is connected!

As per the manual now, the Marvel Studios films present one or more scenes during the credits. Often these sequences serve as “bridges” for future movie stories and are almost always a cause for discussion among fans. The latest Marvel feature film is in theaters, called Eternals, and features two scenes during the credits. The second in particular hides a secret character, that is a man whose voice you can hear but not see the face. The director Chloé Zhao thought about revealing the mystery in an interview with Fandom.com.

Whose Voice Is Heard In The Second Scene Of The Eternals Credits?

During the second scene of the credits, the character played by Kit Harington, Dane Whitman, appears to be in her office or otherwise in a room where she keeps her collection of relics. His fiancée Sersi has just been captured by the Celestial Arishem and Dane is willing to go out of his way to save her.

The scene shows Dane in front of a wooden box that contains a sword – which in the comics is called the Ebony Blade – with a decidedly particular look. The weapon is very large (in the jargon one would say it is a two-handed sword) and the material that makes up its blade appears to be alive. The sword also seems to utter incomprehensible noises that attract Dane, as if the sword wanted to be taken. Then, a few seconds later, as Dane approaches the sword, the voice of a man, who cannot be seen in the face, is heard saying: “Are you sure you want to do this, Mr. Whitman?”. Well, director Chloé Zhao immediately quelled the discussions in the bud by saying that the voice is of the vampire slayer Blade:

What Is The Connection Between Black Knight And Blade?

As announced by Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige on July 20, 2019, the Blade character will be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and will be played by Mahershala Ali. The film does not yet have a release date but is undoubtedly in the works as the production company has already entrusted Stacy Osei-Kuffou with the script and Bassam Tariq directing.

In Eternals there is a very important clue to the existence of vampires in the MCU that adds to that present in the TV series Loki. More precisely, the clue is found in the fourth episode of the first season when Mobius tells the God of deception that he has also brought vampires to the TVA (Time Variance Authority).

In the movie about the Eternals the clue is given by the character of Kingo. This tells Ikaris how he met his butler Karun. The latter, Kingo said, thought the Eternal was a vampire and wanted to stab him with a wooden stake. In light of Zhao’s statement, what might have seemed like a funny joke is actually also a statement: vampires already exist in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In the comics and more precisely in the saga titled Captain Britain and MI-13 Black Knight teams up with Blade to fight a vampire invasion in London. It is not yet known if Blade will be set in London or in some city in the United States where, among other things, the Sony / Marvel movie Morbius will take place.

Considering the obvious connection to the MCU and Jared Leto’s willingness to have a crossover with Blade the Living Vampire’s first cinematic adventure could lead to a “dispersion” into the world (intentional or not) of vampires.
