Eternals 2: Will Chloé Zhao Also Direct The Possible Sequel? Here What She Said

Eternals 2 has not yet been confirmed and the actual possibility that the 2021 film could have a sequel has not even been discussed. Eternals debuted in late 2021 in theaters and it was immediately clear that this was not a film like the previous ones dedicated to Marvel’s heroes. The film – among the first films to be released after Avengers: Endgame which sanctioned the closure of Phase 3 – is part of Phase 4 which also saw the experiments of TV series including WandaVision and Loki. The story is far from that of the superheroes we have known and takes us back to our origins by introducing the figures of the Eternals.

But the particularity of the film is in its style and in the direction entrusted to the Oscar winner Chloé Zhao who has created an elegant film, aesthetically accurate and far from the adrenaline-pumping chapters that preceded it. Unfortunately, the results from the public weren’t the ones hoped for and the film had a rather low approval rating. So if Eternals 2 is made, will you still be directed by her? Eternals 2: Will Chloé Zhao Return to Direct?

The Oscar-winning director cryptically answered the question about the possibility of her returning to direct Eternals 2. As already mentioned, there are rumors about it but no confirmation as for now Marvel is busy making and presenting her Phase 5 after announcing numerous other films and TV series related to other characters, and products that aim to expand the MCU even further and explore the path of the multiverse. Speaking to the Hollywood Reporter Chloé Zhao admitted:

“No comment”, Adding then “You simply have to be true to the type of film you want to make, who you are, and the people you work with”.

The director, therefore, did not go too far in the actual making of the film, but even if she were, she admits that the important thing is to remain faithful to her style and that therefore it will be difficult to see her directing a sequel that is not in her ropes and that must adapt to different directives. However, it is not excluded, that the characters introduced by the film may return with appearances in other films as the Marvel project is so large and deeply ambitious. We just have to wait to find out if Eternals 2 will see the light or not.
