End Of The Road Ending Explained: Who Got The Bag Of Money? And What Happens To The Freeman Family?
End of the Road is a 2022 drama and thriller film, directed by Millicent Shelton and written by David Loughery. It is available on Netflix on September 9, 2022, and was produced by 42, Edmonds Entertainment, Flavor Unit Entertainment, Serendipity Productions, and Twisted Pictures. This film, in addition to being a drama and a thriller, flows into the horror and splatter genre. The enemies, however, are not supernatural forces, killers with special abilities, or monsters of the desert: the evil forces in this film are corruption, greed, and racism. Just as there are the best action movies of the century, it is also a reality that new films of this genre (most of them very promising) do not stop being released, such as End of the Road on Netflix.
What is the Netflix Movie End of the Road?
It is an action-packed, suspenseful thriller that follows the story of Brenda, a recently widowed woman with financial problems who must move with her family (consisting of her two sons and her younger brother) from California to Texas. Along the way, her daughter Kelly is harassed by a couple of white men; however, she is not intimidated. Seeing the girl’s reaction, the guys get angry and, in response, decide to bother the family on her way. That is when Brenda is forced to apologize to the thugs, despite their racist attitudes because she just wants them to let them continue on their way in peace.
The family manages to follow their route and settle in a motel for the night. But their peace is disturbed when they suddenly hear a shot in the next room. Brenda tries to help and realizes that the victim is none other than Harvey, the leader of the men who molested them earlier. The police take their statement from the family so they can continue on their way without problems. However, Brenda soon discovers that her brother, Reggie, took a bag of money belonging to the criminals, which they had to deliver to the local crime boss, Mr. Cross.
After this, the family begins a dangerous journey. On the one hand, Reggie argues that they should keep the money since it is precisely what they lack, but Brenda appeals to her values and insists on returning it. In this way, he gets in touch with Mr. Cross himself, with whom he reaches an agreement to deliver the damn bag, but under his terms. He indicates to the criminal that he will drop her off at a certain place, where he will have to pick her up.
However, something unexpected happens and the bag is not in the agreed place, so Mr. Cross chooses to kidnap his son and threatens Brenda to give him the money immediately. When looking for the cash, Brenda realizes that an unknown girl stole it, so she starts a chase to get it from her. She manages to do it, but she is captured by some subjects, who keep her detained.
When she wakes up, Brenda gives most of them what they deserve, and threatens the rest, telling them that the money belongs to Mr. Cross and that if they don’t let her escape, the fearsome criminal will come after them. Hearing this, her guys set her free from her bag. On the other hand, Reggie and Kelly are interrogated by the officer in charge of the investigation, who for some strange reason is aware of everything that has happened. He convinces them to go with him to his house, but it is a maneuver to kidnap them. This is because the officer is Mr. Cross, who has threatened them so much during their trip.
End of the Road Ending Explained: Who Got The Bag Of Money?
Mr. Cross calls Brenda again and informs her that he has kidnapped his entire family, so he must hurry to deliver the money; otherwise she might hurt them. Meanwhile, Reggie and the boys think of a plan to escape and they succeed, as they manage to throw a bucket of bleach in the eyes of their kidnapper.
They take the opportunity to escape but Cross’s wife, who is his accomplice, shows resistance and confronts them. They are finally able to get out, and when they do they see Brenda, who has just arrived at the house along with the bag of money. They decide to leave this happy bag behind and together they start their escape in their truck. But that is when the criminal couple regains consciousness and begins to chase them.
It is an action-packed shooting chase, in which Brenda ends up falling out of her car. When it seemed like the end of her, Cross’s wife opts to shoot her family’s car, but she doesn’t hurt anyone. Finally, Brenda throws a sparkler at the old couple, which causes them to be distracted. The old woman decides to commit suicide, while Cross ends up fatally colliding with a tree, which causes her death. The family runs away, leaving problems behind. But when they stop for breakfast, Reggie confesses that she kept some of the money and Brenda finally gives up.
