The Synopsis Of Emily In Paris – Season 2
Now more integrated in Paris, Emily moves better around the city but is still struggling with the idiosyncrasies of life in France. After becoming embroiled in a love triangle with her neighbor and her first true French friend, Emily is determined to focus on her work, but it gets more complicated every day. During her French class she meets an expatriate like her, who infuriates her but at the same time intrigues her.
What Happens In Emily In Paris Season 2?
During an assignment in their French class, Emily and Alfie are asked to interview each other and to inform the class about their partner. While Emily takes this project seriously, presenting Alfie’s life directly, Alfie uses her presentation to criticize Emily. In French, Alfie tells the class, “Emily is wearing stupid clothes,” eliciting laughter from her classmates. While the line seems like a moment to forget, Emily takes it to heart, displaying the character’s sometimes heartbreaking seriousness as others laugh at her.
Emily’s colorful and flamboyant fashion is used to emphasize her Americanity, especially when juxtaposed with classic and more sophisticated fashion than her French counterparts. Emily’s dedication is what makes it work, but it’s clear it’s not Carrie Bradshaw and the show knows it. Not only is Emily’s fashion teased in the second season of Emily In Paris, but the show finds other ways to tease her concept in interesting ways.
It appears that Star, Collins and co. took the criticism of the first season and used it to their advantage. From the continued lack of consequences for her actions, to Emily’s obsession with her phone, season 2 shows that the series has become more self-aware, and that’s ultimately a good sign for season 3.
