Maya Lopez made an appearance as Kingpin’s (Vincent D’Onofrio) “hitman” for the Tracksuit Mafia. A ruthless villain, whose origins will finally be explored and explained in the series starring her. According to the official synopsis, Echo will have to deal with the violence caused in New York and come to terms with his past.
Alaqua Cox, a deaf actress of Native American origin, will play Maya again, just like her character, who made her show business debut with the role of Hawkeye. According to the first rumors, neither of the two protagonists of the series – Jeremy Runner (Hawkeye\Clint Barton) and Hailee Steinfeld (Kate Bishop) – will appear on the show, while the presence of Devery Jacobs in a still unknown role is confirmed. Sidney Freeland (Reservation Dogs) will be directing some of Echo’s six episodes. Regarding returning as Echo, Cox stated be excited and highlighted the importance of a heroine like Maya to the MCU: “It’s crazy to have received my show after Hawkeye. It was my first ever acting role. I don’t know why they are giving me this opportunity, but I’m just grateful. I am thrilled with the support and the opportunity to support the deaf community. We want to achieve equality and involve more people”.
