For those new to Dungeons and Dragons, the game is an adventure about wizards, dragons, orcs, haunted castles, and dangerous quests across ancient lands (sort of like The Witcher, but with a slightly more complex storyline), and thanks to Stranger Things, it became popular again with fans of all things nostalgic, giving Paramount the idea that it was time to bring it to the movies again.
The game has complicated rules and very long quests, but after seeing Mike, Will, Lucas and Dustin play a game in the first season of Stranger Things, we all wanted to know a little more about this strange game that had them so excited, and for that, you don’t necessarily have to play, the movie that is on the way will tell us everything we need to know about the characters, the monsters and the objective of the game and its missions. What Do We Know About The Dungeons And Dragons Movie?
The film was announced in 2019 and some details have been revealed. Paramount confirmed that Chris Pine is one of the protagonists of the story. According to Variety, the Star Trek and Wonder Woman actors began negotiations that same year, and soon more and more actors were added. Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, the duo best known for the film Game Night, starring Rachel McAdams and Jason Bateman, will direct the film and write the screenplay, which is based on a draft by Michael Gilio.
Dungeons and Dragons was first adapted into a movie for New Line Cinema in 2000, but the film, which starred Justin Whalin, Marlon Wayans, and Jeremy Irons, was not what fans were hoping for and became a commercial flop and critical. According to reports, the new movie had been years in the making and was original to be produced by Warner Bros. with Ansel Elgort (of Baby Driver) starring and Rob Letterman directing, but at the time there was a legal battle over the rights to the movie story and Dungeons and Dragons ended up moving to Paramount, where eventually Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley were tapped to bring the game’s story to the big screen.
Before this, Pine appeared as Steve Trevor opposite Gal Gadot in the 1984 Wonder Woman movie, which you can watch on HBO Max, and is already working on Don’t Worry Darling, the new Olivia Wilde movie with Florence Pugh and Harry Styles.

Chris Pine was the first confirmed, but now it has been confirmed that we will also be able to see Michelle Rodríguez (Fast & Furious) and Regé Jean-Page (who appeared in the first season of Bridgerton)) in the film that is already in production.
The movie is said to be a cross between Guardians of the Galaxy and Pirates of the Caribbean. Pine will play the film’s hero, Rodriguez will play a fierce warrior, and Smith will play a half-elf wizard who lacks confidence but is a lot of fun. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hugh Grant and Sophie Lillis, from It and Sharp Objects, have just joined the cast that also includes the Bridgerton actor.
