Dune: Denis Villeneuve Explains Why There Is No Post-Credit Scene
Today we know that Denis Villeneuve’s ‘Dune’ is just the first half of a two-part adaptation of Frank Herbert’s classic. We are also in charge that the second half of this adaptation (and the future of the franchise in general) depends on its results at the box office, so Warner has always tried to make it clear that this is an introduction to an outcome that is worth the wait. Zendaya says it very clearly at the end of the film: “This is just the beginning.”
A common strategy to generate suspense for future installments in a saga is to place question-scenes once the credits have started. They are usually moments full of mystery, where the incorporation of a new character, villain or piece of the puzzle is intuited within the framework of the fictional universe. However, Villeneuve’s ‘Dune’, the film most obviously in need of public attention today has not included any post-credit scenes in its footage. Why? It turns out that their director dislikes them a lot.
Denis Villeneuve Explains Why There Is No Post-Credit Scene
“I don’t like post-credit scenes “he admitted in an interview with NME. “There was a very specific ending emotion that I was trying to achieve in the last frame of ‘Dune’ and I didn’t want to meddle with it . So no, I didn’t use post-credit scenes. I never have and I never would.” Villeneuve has already been quite insistent that, despite the requests of the fan community, there will be no version of the director of the film. That this was even a possibility arises as rumor after Jason Momoa said he wanted to see the six-hour version that made up the original cut of the new ‘Dune’. But this is a version that is not intended for the public, clarified the director.
So it’s not no. Referring to a director’s version, Villeneuve exclaimed: “I love Jason, but that doesn’t exist! The director’s cut is what people are seeing in theaters right now. There will be no other version … Yes, he could have done. a longer, more contemplative movie, but that was never the plan“
Anyway, if it is the continuity of the franchise that worries fans in reference to the absence of post-credit scenes, it must be added that the prospects are good. Although the second part of ‘Dune’ is still awaiting approval, Warner CEO Ann Sarnoff joked with Deadline magazine about what to expect in the not-so-distant future: “What if we will have a sequel to ‘Dune’? Yes. you’ve seen the movie you’ll know how it ends. I think you practically already have the answer to that. ” And, if you have not seen it yet and the future of the Frank Herbert saga worries you, it will be time to approach the theaters.
