Dial 100 Movies Review: The Story
The story begins with the Mumbai Police Emergency Call Center. Police officer Nikhil Sood is doing night duty here. Answering public calls from the headphones of the police system. Solving the rift between wife and son at home with a personal phone. Meanwhile, a call comes in the office. The caller insists on only talking to Nikhil instead of anyone else. Nikhil takes the call. The caller in front starts asking strange questions to Nikhil. At first Nikhil feels that some drunk caller is pranking him. But gradually the caller’s words start getting strangely frightening. Going further in the story, this call proves to be a time for Nikhil and his family.
According to the story, the audience should feel sorry for Seema’s character because she was the one who really suffered injustice. But the way the script is set up allows the character to be seen only through the eyes of Inspector Nikhil and his wife Motivation.
The Review and Script Analysis
No matter how much the doctor reads the physiology, but the pain can be felt only by the one who is hurt. The police may continuously register the problems of common people due to such day and night accidents, but their horror comes in front of them only when a policeman himself is two-four with him. This is what Dial 100 says. A phone call turns into a complicated puzzle for PI Nikhil Sood (Manoj Bajpayee), a senior-ranking PI in Mumbai’s Emergency Police Department. He is on night duty and his teenage son does not listen to his mother (Sakshi Tanwar). Goes to parties late at night. Sood is neither able to give time to the son nor to the wife. So how did he solve the matter? Things get complicated when the caller Seema Pallav (Neena Gupta) asks a strange question: Are you a good police officer. Have you ever taken a bribe? She says that if the person protecting the normal people starts abusing them, then his punishment should be more than the normal. The story opens with increasing suspense that Seema has lost her young son sometime back and the reason for this is a rich young man. Who drove the car on Seema’s son while intoxicated with drugs. She wants revenge on that young man. But what does this have to do with Nikhil, his wife and son?
The main attraction of the film is the cinematography by Anuj Rakesh Dhawan. From the beginning, the cinematographer was able to bring the feel of a thriller film to the scene. Manoj Bajpayee and the excellence of the scenes can be recorded as two factors that help the audience in a film that lacks locations and characters. For these reasons, Dial 100 is a once-in-a-lifetime movie.
Dial 100 Movies Review: Star Performances
No matter how the script is prepared, Manoj Bajpayee can bring his character to life. This time too, the actor has managed to bring his character one step further than what was written. Much of the film is based on Nikhil’s phone conversations.
Manoj Bajpayee’s facial expressions and body language give the audience a clear idea of what he is going through. If there is no ‘bad call’ in Manoj Bajpayee’s dialogue, it is like a sadya without payas. Manoj Bajpayee is the only reason to forget the flaws in the script and watch the film.
Although Nina Gupta has been affected by the limitations of the script, the actress has portrayed the character as beautifully as she can. Dial 100 is watchable due to the kind of Manoj Bajpayee performing masterclass that now not catches us abruptly so accustomed are we to it. He’s ably supported by his two key co-actors, Neena Gupta and Sakshi Tanwar, who play two distressed moms whose paths cross in circumstances that result in the ill-fated encounter on the coronary heart of the movie.
Dial 100 Movies Review: Direction
Director Rensil D’Silva has gone backwards in many aspects that should have been taken into consideration while raising such a subject under the label of thriller. When shooting a film focusing mainly on three characters, the director had a great responsibility in the formation of those characters. This is because the story and screenplay of the film belong to the director himself. It is the director’s fault that despite getting talented actors, he was not able to ensure at least the quality of the cast. Another move that the director missed was the presentation without maintaining suspense.
Dial 100 Movies Review: The last Words
Dial 100 does sufficient to make its mark as one that may be loved for its performances, empathetic relatability and a few fairly good suspenseful moments. The story of the film is very fresh and connect easily but due to some lack of script the film is decent to watch. I am going with 3 out of 5 stars.
