Despicable Me 4 Release Date
Despicable Me 4 will be the fifteenth film collaboration between Illumination Entertainment and Universal. The Despicable Me animated franchise alone has grossed over $1.2 billion at the national box office. The new film will bring back the film’s original voice cast, including Steve Carell, Kristen Wiig, Pierre Coffin, Miranda Cosgrove and Steve Coogan. Illumination Entertainment founder Chris Meledandri will produce the film, and Chris Renaud, who directed the first two films of Despicable Me and the two chapters of The Secret Life of Animals, will return as a director. Patrick Delage (animation director of Sing, Sing 2, The Secret Life of Pets 2) will be the co-director and Mike White (School of Rock and The White Lotus) will write the screenplay. Despicable Me 4 is the fourth film in the animated series Despicable Me which will be released in theaters on July 3, 2024.
Chris Meledandri first confirmed in 2017 that a fourth film in the franchise was in development, but plot details were never disclosed. Despicable Me 3 was released in theaters in 2017 and a prequel film, Minions: The Rise of Gru, will be released in July 2022. As for Migration, Illumination has hired “Ernest & Celestine” director Benjamin Renner to direct the film, which will also have a screenplay written again by Mike White. Migration is a modern comedy that follows a family of ducks who persuade their overprotective father to go on vacation as they attempt to migrate from New England, through New York City and ultimately to the Bahamas. It also produces Meledandri. No cast has been revealed.
