Crimes of the Future Trailer: Kristen Stewart Organ Hunting For David Cronenberg Film
Crimes of the Future: It’s time to stop seeing, it’s time to stop talking, it’s time to listen: with this cryptic mantra punctuated by a mechanical voice, the sinister and fascinating trailer of Crimes of the Future, the new film by David Cronenberg opens. The promo of Cronenberg’s new film – the director of Videodrome, The Promise of the Assassin and A History of Violence – seems to herald a clear return of the filmmaker to the dystopian, horror and science fiction themes that distinguish some of his most famous films. The cast of the film features three great internationally renowned actors: Kristen Stewart (Spencer, Sils Maria), Léa Seydoux (Vita d’Adele) and Viggo Mortensen, the director’s fetish actor, featured in many of his films.
The promo was released a few minutes after the announcement that Crimes of the Future will be in competition at the Cannes Film Festival 2022 and the chance to win the Palme d’Or will be played.
What Do We Know About Crimes of The Future, the new film by David Cronenberg
The protagonist of the film is a couple of artists and performers formed by Saul Tenser (Viggo Mortensen) and Caprice (Léa Seydoux). He is famous for his avant-garde shows focused on the metamorphosis of his organs and his body. Saul has attracted the morbid interest of Timlin (Kristen Stewart), agent of the National Organ Registry, determined to shed light on the couple’s mysterious activities, which seem to herald a new evolution of the human species.
David Cronenberg Returns To His Origins And Body Horror
Cronenberg’s fans will notice how the film has the same title as the second feature film directed by the Canadian director in 1970: however, the two films are not a remake of the other, on the contrary: they should not have any connections whatsoever, at least according to the first statements on this film. Filmed in 2021, Crimes of the Future is a project the director started working on a long time ago. Even before starting the work, Viggo Mortensen had stated in this regard:
He wrote it a long time ago but never got around to making it. Over time he refined it and got the urge to shoot it Without anticipating too much of the story, it is a bit of a return to origins.
Crimes of the Future First Look Images
From the first images of the trailer, all dystopian settings and invasive technologies that penetrate and transform the courses, it seems in fact that the Canadian director will return to talk about the human body as a dimension of transformation, pain and horror. All typical elements of the body horror genre, of which Cronenberg has always been a great exponent.
