This was revealed by Jon Hurwitz, one of its creators, on his Twitter account, where he made the announcement and thanked the fans for the support they have shown to the ” Miyagiverse” over the years.
“It has been our humble honor to reunite the world with The Karate Kid universe. Making Cobra Kai has allowed us to join the same hallowed dojo once inhabited by the greats Robert Mark Kamen, John Avildsen, Jerry Weintraub and all the amazing cast members. It has also allowed us to play sensei, expanding on the original storylines and giving birth to a new generation of underdogs. We have never taken this opportunity for granted,” Hurwitz said in a statement alongside Josh Heald and Hayden Schlossberg, the other creators of the series. The series initially debuted on YouTube Red in 2018 before finally moving to Netflix for its third season.

Released to positive reviews from both critics and fans of the franchise, Cobra Kai serves as a sequel to the Karate Kid film series and focuses on Johnny Lawrence’s (William Zabka) path to redemption following the reopening of the Cobra dojo Kai.
