The cast of the film has started well but soon proves to be ineffective from story to acting.

Chehre Review

What’s The Story About

Chehre is actually a courtroom drama. The use of mystery thriller in courtroom drama is good. The film is actually made keeping four friends and a stray passenger in the center. About 280 km from Delhi, four friends after retirement live in the deserted snowy mountains. The four are Justice Jagdish Acharya (Dhritiman Chatterjee), Public Prosecutor Latif Zaidi (Amitabh Bachchan), Defense Lawyer Paramjit Singh Bhullar (Annu Kapoor), Executioner Hariya Jatav (Raghuveer Yadav). It is the daily work of the four elders to gather at the judge’s house in the evening. are gathered. They drink alcohol, do food and if a forgotten passer-by comes trapped in the mountains, then they also play the game of “Mock Trial” with him. That is, there is a fake trial of the case. The charges are discussed. Evidence is presented, it is examined and finally the judge gives its verdict.

Enna (Rhea Chakraborty) takes care of the work in the house of Justice. Enna’s brother is Joe (Siddhant Kapoor). Helps elderly people in mock trials. Dumb, who is actually a person who has been sentenced, who was punished by Justice Acharya. Enna is his sister. One day, Sameer Mehra (Emraan Hashmi), who has achieved everything in the corporate world at a very young age, gets stuck in snowy weather and reaches Justice’s house. He is offered to appear in the mock trial game. In the game, only the wandering passengers are in the role of criminals, who are tried in the mock court of Justice Acharya. Before the start of the game, the passengers are free to admit any of their crimes, which should be tried. However, Sameer denies any crime. Initially, Sameer feels the game time pass, but later during the mock trial, the incidents happen in such a way that a different truth comes out of him. He gets trapped and tries to escape thinking the game to be deadly. Actually what is the purpose of mock trial and how does Sameer get stuck in troubles, it will be interesting to see in the film.

The Review

The story of Chehre is written by Ranjit Kapoor. His writing is worthy of praise in terms of use in courtroom drama. The screenplay and dialogues of the film have been written by Ranjeet along with Rumi Jaffrey. Rumi is also the director of the film. The story, screenplay and dialogues are excellent. In the first half, all three things are brilliant and balanced. Speed and gripping are excellent. When the first half goes out, the audience does not know. Even in the second half, everything seems to be going well before the last 15-20 minutes. During the mock trial, interesting twists and turns come from place to place in the film. Along with the temporary courtroom drama, a story related to Sameer and his past is also going on in flashbacks. Chehre, which looks like a terrific film, is sullied because of parts of the script that fail to create a connection between the characters and the audience in the end. Especially as the film progresses towards the climax, the dialogue becomes a victim of rhetoric, weak writing and over-dramatization to show the thrill.

Chehre Review: The Performances

In the frame in which you put together legendary actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Annu Kapoor, Raghubir Yadav and Dhritiman Chatterjee, the level of acting performance in that film suddenly goes very high. Emraan Hashmi is with him, who has played the role of actor of an ad film company named Sameer Mehra. This is the character around which the story of the film revolves. Along with these four Savage elders, two more people named Anna and Joe live in that house. Riya Chakraborty has played the role of Anna and Siddhant Kapoor has played the role. Both of them have huge tragic backstory, which adds a bit of value to the story of the film. Talking about the actors, then also know that Krystle D’Souza has also done this film. Krystle is known for her TV show ‘Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai’. Most of his time in the film is spent in the swimming pool, his character has drowned in this affair.

Technical Aspects and Others Things

Location is very beautiful. The interior, snowy mountains and weather of Justice Acharya’s house are according to the story. The look and style of the characters are also attractive. Cinematography is excellent. Editing is tight. Apart from these things, acting and dialogue side are important in the best things of the face. The faces are on the shoulders of Amitabh, Emraan Hashmi, Dhritiman, Annu Kapoor. All four also leave an impact. Apart from the speeches of the climax, Amitabh’s work is not outstanding but effective. Dhritiman also looks original. Annu Kapoor is a face selling package who knows the skills to prove her presence among the stalwarts. Apart from Amitabh, Annu Kapoor’s part has come in many good dialogues and scenes of the film. Raghuveer’s character is small, his portions of dialogues have also come down. Despite that, they are fine in their place. Riya Chakraborty and Siddhant had nothing to share. Even if both did not have characters, then it was not going to make any difference. Krystle D’Souza’s work in an important character is also satisfactory.

Chehre Review: The Verdict

Time to think for Emraan Hashmi. Screaming is an emotion, he and his directors have to understand how to use it properly. His acting is fine but in many places the gesture does not look like it should be. It was the director’s responsibility that the loud act came out according to the story. The rhythm of the dialogues of Amitabh, Annu Kapoor and Dhritiman is worth watching and learning. Imran could not bring that feeling in many places in the Loud Act. Leaving the loud scenes, Imran’s work can also be called satisfactory. Even though some things go awry in the end, Courtroom is a must watch film for the audience interested in drama.
