Sometimes both give shocks like ‘Gulabo Sitabo’ and ‘Judgmental Hai Kya‘ but the choice of both and the courage of both are often praiseworthy. Manvinder Munjal aka Manu (Ayushmann Khurrana) is a fitness freak. The owner of the gym. Bodybuilder, preparing for a local championship. One sweats day and night to make dole-sholay. Focused on the goal. However, there is a slight loss in the gym business. Not many people are coming. But only then times change, circumstances change, emotions change. Maanvi Brar (Vaani Kapoor) enters. She comes to the gym as a Zumba instructor. Here the crowd grows in the gym, on the other hand, butterflies start flying in the hearts of Manu and Manvi. But there is much more to human life than her beauty. This is the essence of the story and also the new twist of the story.

The biggest thing that the film ‘Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui’ explains is that children are not the property of their parents. Be it son or daughter, he has every right to live the life of his choice. If the parents continue to love him really, then he will come under their shade when needed. Just a little love and a little trust is what every son and daughter needs. This is also the real heart of this story of Manu-Manvi-Manu. The son of a motherless mother is engrossed in the feelings of his CID-like sisters and the father who is engaged in the second marriage. Grandfather understands him but his value is no more than the rubber stamp in the house.

Manu has a gym, Manvi comes there to teach Zumba. When the kiss comes in Zumba and when both the two bodies become one life, everything happens before both of them know. After a long sequence that is both body and mind soaking and breaking body taboos, the story comes to the real point and engulfs the audience in a subject which is a dare to talk about with the family members.

We have seen so many true love stories on screen. These love stories often have similar things. Boy and girl meet. There is some romance. First there is resentment. Then there are fights. Patchups happen and breakups happen. Story over. But something is different here. Boy and girl meet. But the girl has a past, which is the biggest problem for the boy i.e. Manu. Manu is a matcho man. Manvi is a bold and fearless character in Simran Sahni’s story, who ‘revenge’ her life with all her courage. She has now become who she wants to be. She feels proud and independent about this new identity. It is also a story of courage to accept one’s own ‘reality’. But will the society and his family accept his ‘choice’? Will your normal world no longer be ‘normal’?

Director Abhishek Kapoor gets to the point in the film more than just showing the romance dancing around the bushes and trees. After introducing the audience to Manu, his friends and family, the director sahib takes us straight to the world of Maanvi. Slowly and very softly, he also reveals the past of Maanvi. As he prepares us for the ‘truth’ of Maanvi, he also makes Manu feel the thought, his shock, his disbelief and the fear that prevents him from knowing more about the girl, whom he loves very much. But when that moment comes, Manu also manages and manages everything in that moment. There is not much drama in it.

Abhishek has raised a serious issue in the film. But at the same time, it has been kept fun with light-hearted comedy on many occasions. Yes, wherever the issue has been talked about, he has shown it with the same sensitivity, seriousness and maturity. He has covered every aspect related to this subject. Whether we have little knowledge about it, whether it is a matter of understanding and learning the truth, discussing the humiliation associated with it, or the way our society is increasingly divided on the matter of being ‘inclusive’. Abhishek Kapoor has cleverly, simply and effortlessly put everything together with light comedy in a simple and effortless manner.

It is not known that how many viewers who watch average films like ‘Sooryavanshi’ by filling the theater will go to see the film ‘Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui‘, but this film is the best Hindi film of the year 2021. It may not have the spontaneity like ‘Bob Biswas’, but this film with full-fledged Punjabi flavor will appeal to the audience of the Hindi belt too. This film is also a lesson for how the film blossoms by having only one musician throughout the film. The film releasing company T-Series will also learn something from this, it can be expected. Sachin-Jigar has returned to the rhythm after a long time.

Supratik Sen and Tushar Paranjpe have done a great job on the screenplay and dialogues. It is excellent in many scenes. Whether it is the Munjal family forcing Manu into marriage, waiting for his widower father (Girish Dhamija) to marry a Muslim girlfriend, Manvi’s father (Kanwaljit Singh) supporting her daughter’s choice, or Whether Manu’s sisters interfere in their every matter… the screenplay in every scene is tight and it keeps you hooked.

Ayushmann Khurrana has once again done the work of living his character on screen. His transformation for the role and his hard work is reflected in it. He has thoroughly enjoyed the character of Manu. Ayushmann’s moves in the role of a Chandigarh boy wins hearts. Vaani Kapoor has maintained a flow in her character from beginning to end. On many occasions, she prevails over all the other characters. The chemistry of Vaani and Ayushmann is also great.

The Final Words

Tushar Paranjpe and Suprapatik Sen deserve praise for the writing of the film. Bosco Caesar’s choreography is the heart of the film, while Manoj Lobo’s cinematography colorizes its soul. Chandan Arora should be specially congratulated for not allowing the film to become burdensome anywhere. This film of less than two hours and four minutes is the perfect film for this weekend.
