Brand New Cherry Flavor has nothing to do with a new flavor of soda or some sugary sweet, it is the name of the new Netflix miniseries that promises to become the obsession of fans of the horror genre. On terrifying miniseries themes, Netflix already gave us Behind Her Eyes, The Haunting of Hill House and Marianne , but we can’t see the same thing over and over again (especially when it comes to horror, where the element of surprise is the most attracts fans), so his catalog continues to grow and New Cherry flavor could be his new hit.

The series is adapted from writer Todd Grimson’s cult fantasy horror novel of the same name. The novel was released in 1996 (so there is also a bit of nostalgia) and has, according to Netflix’s description, sex, magic and … kittens, as well as motorcycle gangs and celebrities who hide dark secrets.

What is New Cherry Flavor About?

Grimson’s novel follows Lisa Nova , an aspiring filmmaker living in Los Angeles. When she becomes involved in a plot of supernatural revenge, Lisa’s story takes her around the world, passing through ancient entities, hallucinations, cults, tattoos that appear out of nowhere, terrifying nightmares and even demonic cannibals. Lisa is betrayed by a producer, so she turns to an enigmatic woman to seek revenge, not knowing that this will lead her to discover much more than she expected or wanted, crossing the line between nightmares and reality.

Netflix’s official description reads: “A filmmaker heads to Hollywood in the early 90’s to make her movie, but falls into a mind-blowing den of sex, magic, revenge and kittens.” (Don’t worry, nothing bad happens to kittens.)

The Cast

Rosa Salazar, who appeared in the film Alita: Battle Angel and Bird Box , stars in the series as Lisa Nova, a filmmaker living in Los Angeles in the 1990s. The cast also includes Catherine Keener, the terrifying manipulative mother-in-law. from Get Out, Manny Jacinto (The Good Place), Eric Lange (Escape at Dannemora) and Jeff Ward (Marvel’s Agents of Shield).

Brand New Cherry Flavor is the brainchild of Shudder’s Channel Zero team of Nick Antosca and Lenore Zion, who brought the book to life with a script full of unexpected twists that make you doubt everything you think you know and everything what you are seeing.

When It Premieres?

Along with its first trailer, Netflix confirmed that Brand New Cherry Flavor will hit streaming on August 13, extending the summer of terror that began with the Fear Street saga (which you can now watch in full and tells the story of a witch’s curse. which is connected to a series of strange murders in a quiet American town) and that will last until a very spooky Halloween.
