Brahmastra Review: The Story

The film opens with the heavy voice of Amitabh Bachchan. Through the animation going on with her, she sets her love. Then comes the amazing cameo of Shah Rukh Khan. Your expectation from the film increases. A wonderful atmosphere is created. The film offers our aspirations on a gram tree. Then suddenly the time changes. Emotions change. The song starts playing. The love story starts running. Arman collapses. This is followed by a half-gripping sequence in between. The film becomes very cumbersome before the interval. Looks like a forced film. Same old clichés of Hindi masala films. Same love stories. Meaningless songs. The whole taste gets spoiled. After the interval, it seems that another film has started. Once that smoky action starts. Does not take the name of stopping till the climax of the film. The Second half is much better than before. However, a film should not be seen divided into two parts. But this is how the film was made. The makers have fired in the first half build-up. The film could have been shortened by at least half an hour.

In Hindu mythology, Brahmastra is the weapon that never fails after being fired. Here those who read the Ramcharit Manas telling the great story of Treta Yuga will remember the couplet ‘Brahma Astra Tehi Sandha Kapi Mana Kinh Vichar. Jau na brahm sir manaun glory mitai immense.. Then it has also been used in the war of Mahabharata in Dwapar. This is a perfect weapon. It can be used repeatedly. And, whenever it is used it does not return empty. Some themselves bow down in front of it and get tied in the loop and some are removed from the target and the direction of Brahmastra is also changed. Ayan Mukerji’s ‘Brahmastra’ is a film. Its story runs in the present, past and future. Ayan traces the end of the story from time immemorial and from the origin of the Brahmastra to the present day, forming a secret community of its keepers, where religion and science amalgamate in the form of the scientist Mohan. The Queen of Darkness learns some secrets from Mohan and amid their quest emerges the love story of Shiva and Isha.

Brahmastra Review and Analysis

Before the release of Brahmastra, there was a lot of discussion on its VFX. The film lives up to this as well. VFX full no. What a ruckus VFX hai man. Different color of each weapon. Different forms of each weapon. The Animation is also superb. The animation of Even and Credits is also good. In most of the movies we see, credits are made by putting text on the black screen. But here they have also been worked on separately. That is, every single part of the visual effects has been given special attention. Small detailing has been worked out. Promised by director Ayan Mukerji has completed.

The film is weak but something new in terms of story. It’s a flat story. To give a Bollywood touch to it, many screws of the screenplay have been left loose. Since the screenplay has been written by Ayan himself. They should have refined it more. He probably paid more attention to the technical aspects of the film. Didn’t give much time to the story. Or given the time, they have not been able to adapt the screenplay that well. Hussain Dalal has written the dialogues. He has earlier written dialogues for films like Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, ‘Two States’ and ‘Caravan’. The dialogues written by him are the weak point of Brahmastra. Looks very cute. When you modernized Indian Mythology, what was the need to keep the dialogues so Sanskritised and Urdu-language? There was no special need for unnecessarily difficult words. It would have been better if it was a normal language. It seems that you are watching the Hindi dubbed version of an Avenger movie. Also, many dialogues have no meaning at all.

‘Brahmastra: Part One Shiva’ is seen in a way, it is a good attempt to bring the young generation running away from the Sanat cultures and traditions back towards their axis. Usually, when the process of touching the feet in films is gasped in sliding down from the knees, where the protagonist of the story touches the feet of his superiors at least twice by going up to the toes. The festivity of the film has its colour. A glimpse of the colors, lights and enthusiasm between Dussehra to Diwali is seen in the film. The film also tries to create its separate world slowly from the midst of the present world. The story goes from Delhi to Varanasi via Himachal Pradesh and during this, the entire sequence of an attack on a car is quite thrilling. Amitabh Bachchan is used for his aura in the film, while Mouni Roy manages to make an impact with her intrigues and violent intentions.

Pritam’s music is perfect. The background music adds a great touch to the action sequence. The Cinematography is cool. Editing is also great. Sounds like a good experiment. The number of times a bullet is fired at one place, the screen blackout with a slight fire the screen. It’s a great experiment. Ranbir Kapoor has done a fine job as Shiva. He has tried not to overact. He has also been successful in that to some extent. Alia has become a victim of overacting at some places in the role of Isha. Amitabh has done a great job in the role of Guruji. His voice is the lifeblood of this film. Shahrukh also keeps him tied for as long as he stays on the screen. Nagarjuna has also done a fine job. Mouni Roy has done a great job. He will get more films after the role of Junoon.

As a director, Ayan Mukerji has tried to make such a film, which even the stalwarts of Hindi cinema could not dare to make in this era. There are plenty of movies made on the original mythology. But, this is a different use of creating fictional stories in mythological scenarios. Ayan Mukerji writes his name in Hindi as Ayan Mukerji, according to the spelling of his name in English. Seeing the film, it is also known that the world of mythology, and comics have also been his English. He has also been taking reference points of fantasy cinema from English films. His efforts in the film, his belief in the story and his courage to take the film to the screen by completing a daunting task are commendable. But, if he wants to make the second episode of this film, then he will have to fix the nail thorns of his team. Knowing his power, Shiva’s song should have been no less than Tandav Stotra, and not least Amitabh Bhattacharya can write such a Hindi song. He too has slowly become Javed Akhtar. All his songs are in total of 120 words in Urdu. The dialogues of the film also do not help in increasing the weight of the story.

Brahmastra Review: The Last Words

Overall Brahmastra’s film is weak in terms of writing but Bollywood presented something that’s why you will forget the writing. The technical part is strong. Yes, it will be said that it is a movie with theater experience. You can go and see it. The background score of the film is good but the song music of the film is very weak according to the content of the film. The film ‘Brahmastra: Part One Shiva’ is likely to appeal to audiences who have long aspired to see something similar to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Hindi. The glitches of this film are the same which are being repeated a lot in MCU films these days.
