Bob Biswas Review: Story
The story begins with a hospital where Bob Biswas has come out of a coma of 8 years. His wife (Chitraganda Singh) Mary and son Benny have come to take him home. Bob regains consciousness but does not remember anything from his past life. He struggles to remember his identity. Meanwhile, she meets some police officers, where they tell her that Bob is a contract killer and must return to work. Bob asks him- ‘Why would I kill someone?’… to which he laughs and says- ‘For the money’. As Bob Biswas remembers his old life, he finds himself moving away from the path of morality. And this suffocates him. But the way back is not easy.
On the other hand, the drug network is spreading among the children in the city Kolkata. In the name of increasing ‘attention’ in children, a drug is being sold indiscriminately, which includes many big names. The whole story revolves around how the story of Bob Biswas connects with the drug mafia and how his life takes a turn. Bob Biswas caught the attention of the audience with his style in the story and got tremendous popularity. He was a cynical killer close to reality. However, this back story of Bob does not show that much edge and the haze of his life does not clear completely. Bob Biswas starts in Kolkata, when he walks out of the hospital. Wife Mary (Chitrangada Singh) and young son Beni have come to pick him up. College-studying daughter Mini (Samara Tijori) is at home.
Eight years ago, Bob went into a coma in an accident. Now he doesn’t remember anything. The doctor says that if Bob returns to life, the memories will also return. The Special Crime Branch people are also waiting for Bob’s return. He grabs her as soon as she comes out. It turns out that Bob used to commit murders for them. Once again the people of Crime Branch use it as before. For the elimination of drug dealers named Blue in the metropolis. From here some tricks get stuck, in which Bob’s life gets entangled. Unresolved questions arise in front of Bob, why did he kill people in the first place, how many were killed, who were to die, what did he get from killing him. Will he know why he commits murders? But leaving these questions aside, Bob wants to live a happy life with the family. Can this happen? This is what the film tells.
Good start from Bob Biswas. Do you think that the secrets of the life of this eccentric killer will be revealed. But it didn’t happen. It is not known from beginning to end that due to which accident he was in a coma for eight years. Why did he kill the friend whose wife he married? The climax of the Doctor Uncle, which Bob’s wife and daughter often refer to, turns out to be foamy. In the story, the track of the illegal business of the drug Blue, created to overcome the attention deficit, and the story of Bob run parallel. In the end, matching the two does not create excitement. The film which initially attracts, makes one feel that something new will be found, till the end it gets entangled in the film formulas of 1970-80. The intoxication of the story subsides.
Bob Biswas Review: Review and Analysis
The story of the film is good. There are a lot of gaps in the script. Any audience watching Hindi movies can already tell scene by scene in the climax what is about to happen now, Sujoy’s writing beats it here. The dialogue also did not need to be repeated in Hindi and Bengali. But, Diya Annapurna Ghosh has learned by making her father’s mistakes a lesson. Seeing the film, it does not seem that its captain is directing the film for the first time. Diya has learned cinema by staying with her father. This is her first exam and she also passed with marks with honors. For Zee5, the film ‘Bob Biswas’ can prove to be a turning point. Taapsee Pannu’s film ‘Rashmi Rocket’ helped a lot in raising the level of her branding. Now it is the turn of the film ‘Bob Biswas’.
The supporting cast has also done an amazing job in this film. Pavabitra Raha has done a wonderful job in the role of Hakka Noodles seller. Paran Bandopadhyay, who became Kalida, has his own aura. Tina Desai was also successful in making a mark in the role of Police Inspector. But, the happy feeling of the film is the return of Chitrangada Singh in front of the camera after a long time. Stories featuring adult female characters are in high demand in world cinema these days and actresses like Sushmita Sen, Raveena Tandon and Lara Dutta can always prove to be the twenty one in this regard.
The song music of the movie ‘Bob Biswas’ is average. The Bengali original lyrics of Kishore Kumar’s hit Hindi songs have been used well in the film. But, apart from this the film is technically a very strong film. Garrick Sarkar’s camera is here to help the audience catch the pulse of the story in a shocking way. His camera is not with the characters. He is with the city. And lets go on looking at the story from Kolkata’s point of view. Yasha Ramchandani has done a very careful job in keeping the pace and duration of the film right.
Chitrangada’s first film looks as beautiful You want to see more of them. But the writer-director did not give dimensions to his character. Rest of the actors have done a good job. Param Bandyopadhyay is remembered in the role of the mysterious drug dealer Kali Da. Samara Tijori as Bob Biswas’ daughter and Tina Desai as Police Inspector Indira Verma have also played their roles properly. Diya Annapurna Ghosh’s directorial debut rests on the support of Vidya Balan’s film Kahaani. He has to show his talent in a free and new story. If she is the daughter of Sujoy Ghosh, then it can be believed that the producers will also meet and the platform will also be there.
Bob Biswas Review: The Last Words
Abhishek Bachchan and Chitrangada Singh have something to watch in the film. It is probably Abhishek’s luck that the story often gets weak when he gets a strong character. Here Bob Biswas is a solid character, who, while creating adventure, matches the nature of the story. No new current flows in it. You already know what he will do next, how he will do it. Despite this, Abhishek has done a good job of this writing weakness. Prosthetics, make-up and hairstyle have also adorned her character.
