He is also the hero of the film. In remake films, the director’s originality remains so much that he stays close to the original and can capitalize on its popularity. Along with changing the background of the story in Bholaa, he has made radical changes. For example, the SP police officer has been made a woman instead of a man. Here that character is played by Tabu. Apart from that, the character of Amala Paul has been added. Bhola’ was promoted as an action movie. That’s why first let’s talk about its action. Since it is a remake of ‘Kathy’. That too Out N Out was a strong action-packed film. Bholaa also follows in his footsteps. If I were asked to list the top five films that have come out recently, which have good action, then Bholaa would be on that list.

Bholaa Movie Review: The Story Plot

The story begins with the scene in that SP Diana (Tabu) along with her colleagues is chasing a truck loaded with cocaine. They are successful in catching the truck. The cost of this cocaine is more than one thousand crore rupees. During this operation, Diana also gets shot in the shoulder. She arrests seven men with a stash of cocaine. Five policemen including Diana carry out this mission. Diana hides the cocaine in a bunker built in the Lalganj police station. Built during the British era, this jail is a very strong stone building. The British would have built a bunker below it for their safety.

It is impossible to break into that building. No one is aware of his intelligence route. Diana’s boss (KIRAN KUMAR) tells her that the information must remain a secret until the court takes custody of the goods. After that, during the boss’s party, a policeman mixes drugs in the liquor, due to which all the policemen present there faint. Diana doesn’t consume it, so she survives. In a dramatic turn of events, she sets out to take all the policemen to the hospital in a truck with the help of Bhola (Ajay Devgan). She also brings Karchi (Amir Khan), a caterer, along with her. The layers of Bhola’s life unfold.

After serving ten years in jail, Bhola is going to Lucknow to meet his daughter who is growing up in an orphanage. On the other hand, realizing the danger, the policemen present in the police station run away. Meanwhile, constable Angad Yadav (Sanjay Mishra), who got transferred, happens to be there. There are four students including a girl already presents there with him. Deep Singh (Lokesh Mittal), the policeman present in Diana’s location truck, is giving it to the drug mafia. Nithari (Vineet Singh) is behind the cocaine smuggling, which no one has seen. Her brother Anshu (Deepak Dobriyal) announces Rs 10 crore to catch Diana. In the greed of reward, many gangs use all their strength to catch him. What kind of difficulties do Diana and Bhola face in reaching Lalganj? Will the mafia be able to get hold of the cocaine stash? The story is about this.

Bholaa Movie Review and Analysis

The film opens with a fierce action sequence. This is where the tone of the picture is set. There is a special thing about Bholaa, its action seems fresh. Not copied from anywhere. Ajay Devgan has made extra efforts for this. He is also visible. You would not have seen him doing such an action before. What happens with larger-than-life films is that after a point their action becomes logicless. We have also seen this in films like ‘Pathan’ and ‘War’. People are flying in Bholaa. But it is not an irrational flight. There is a 5-minute-long Paisa Vasool chase sequence in the film. Ajay has dedicated this to his father. Apart from this, when Ajay Devgan starts fighting by lifting Trishul, their brother, it is fun. Well-choreographed sequence. For this, action directors Ramzan Bulut and R.P. Yadav deserve praise.

Ajay Devgan plays a lot with camera angles in his films. Here also he has done the same. you would think; Oh, there can be camera angles like this too. Think they have not tilted the camera to the right at one place but have flipped it completely 90 degrees. In one place, a camera will be installed under the steering wheel of the truck. Many shots follow the object. They also do this work in many places. And in some places, it also seems that a normal camera angle could have been done here, what was the need of experimenting with it? Aseem Bajaj is the cinematographer of Bholaa. Action sequences have emerged because of his camera work. You can say the same for the film’s editor Dharmendra Sharma. They have kept small cuts where necessary. The matter has not been spoiled by the unnecessarily fast pace, which is a good thing.

Still praising. Now let’s criticize a little bit. Bholaa has not escaped from some cliches. For example, Ajay Devgan has also thought it better to show someone eating pot to make him appear fierce. The film is set around Pratapgarh and Rae Bareli. But the accent is the same typical UP one, as we have seen in Bollywood. Kanpuriya accent has been inserted in Rae Bareli-Pratapgarh. A little research was needed in this matter. Yes, one more thing, Ajay Devgan speaks in a normal accent. He has not got the typical accent of UP, whereas he is from UP only. Ajay Devgan has done a great job not only on the action front but also in normal acting. There is an emotional scene where his character Bhola is going to meet his daughter. Before that, there was uneasiness on his face.

There is love and there is also nervousness. He had the option of being loud there. But he shows amazing by being undertone. The role of IPS Diana must have been very easy for Tabu. Because she has played similar characters in ‘Drishyam’ and Kuttey. Number one is work. Deepak Dobriyal has brought alive the character of Ashu. It is known from his face; how unstable this man is. can do anything at any time. Sanjay Mishra has played the role of Constable Yadav like butter. Have to agree that whatever you give to this man, he will make it a diamond. The same is the case with Vineet Kumar and Gajraj Rao. Meaning you cannot find even a single flaw in his acting.

The story is of one night. There is a lot of action in it. VFX has also been used a lot. There is an amazing action scene before the interval with Bhola, Diana, and Karchi and a mutual encounter with the mafia gang. The circumstances of the action scenes have been kept the same as in the original film, but the visuals have been changed. Choreographed by action director Ramzan Bulut, and RP Yadav, the clash between the mafia gangs and Bhola, the lone policeman present at the police station and the students taking on Anshu give goosebumps. In terms of action, Ajay Devgn and Tabu must be commended for putting in the necessary effort for their roles.

It’s thrilling to see Diana take on the mafia despite being injured. Here Ajay’s backstory has been changed from the original story. As such, many questions remain unanswered. For example, when and how did his wife leave, whereas in the original film, it is all clear. The film does not talk anywhere about the damage that can be caused by such a huge smuggling of cocaine. Bhola is described as a devotee of Shiva, but the story does not try to establish him. Ajay Devgan is frozen in action scenes. This is also his specialty. In this film, he is also shown as a yearning father. He understood the pain of the character and brought it out in his acting. However, his concern for his daughter’s future is limited in the story.

There is a lack of emotion in the scene of the father-daughter meeting in the climax. Due to the sling being tied in one hand, Tabu wins hearts while doing the action in some places. She gets emotional in emotional scenes. It refers to killing Diana’s child in the womb, whereas in the original film, it is the policeman’s daughter. Amala Paul makes a guest appearance as Ajay’s wife. There is a glimpse of actress Deepika Padukone in her. She looks beautiful. However, not a single dialogue has come from his part. Nithari has been described as very scary; Vineet Kumar has appeared in it. Deepak Dobriyal is impressive in the role of ruthless drug addict Ashu. This is the specialty of the character, which Deepak has brought alive in his style. In the role of a corrupt officer, Gajraj Rao has done justice to his character. Cinematographer Aseem Bajaj has worked meticulously on every frame. Especially the scene of Aarti in Banaras is remembered.

Bholaa Movie Review: The Last Words

Overall Bholaa is a mass entertainer. If you go to watch it as a great film, you will be disappointed. But it turns out to be a good masala movie. Here Ajay Devgan has also flourished as a director. Space has also been left for the sequel of the film. If all you want is entertainment and action, then do watch Bholaa. The background music by Ravi Basrur suits the story. The song Nazar Lag Jayegi from Bholaa is ear-pleasing. Ajay has already talked about creating a universe of Bholaa. There is a clear indication of that at the end of the film.
