Well, one of the most talked about film of the year after the release of its trailer Bhediya today released in theaters. Stree was One of the most successful films of the horror-comedy genre in Hindi cinema, the next installment of Stree is Bhediya. This film is a part of Stree Universe. Like director Amar Kaushik’s Stree, this film also belongs to the horror-comedy genre. There is more comedy in this too and less horror. That means there is laughter even in horror scenes. Here too, through the horror-comedy genre, it is not just about entertaining the audience, but also giving a unique message. There are three friends and a mysterious female character as well. There is a lot of Stree in the film, but that magic is missing because the screenplay is weak. The story moves at a very slow pace, but humorous scenes, great one-liners, great VFX and solid performances by the cast give many reasons to watch the film once.

Bhediya Review: Plot Summary

The story of the film starts in the jungle and then the story reaches Delhi. Bhaskar (Varun Dhawan) is a small contractor, but he has taken a big contract to build a road at Zero in Arunachal. He has to complete his contract by crossing any limit. This contract of his can cause havoc in the forest. He gets busy fulfilling his contract by luring the people there. When people do not protect the forest, the forest protects itself. One day a wolf attacks Bhaskar and he becomes a wishful wolf. Now he hunts those people in the night, from whom the forest is in danger. Will Bhaskar be able to save the jungle? Will he be able to understand that by cutting the forest, we are not going towards development but towards destruction? There is also a twist in the story of the film, for what is that twist, you will have to watch the film.

This is Amar Kaushik’s third film after Stree and Bala. Due to this, the expectations increased. This time the story has remained weak as compared to his previous two films. It falters from the beginning. The climax has also remained weak. The film also reminds me of Mahesh Bhatt’s film Junoon. The name of Rahul Roy’s film has also been taken into the film. The film leaves many questions unfinished. There was a need to focus a little on the back story of Kriti Sanon’s character. That girl at the beginning of the story was Kriti’s character, just in the name of the back story she is the same in the film. The script of the film also fails to effectively explain how Varun had a change of heart. Till yesterday, why Varun’s character did, who only understands the greenness of the notes, want to save the forest? Why does Kriti’s character suddenly start liking Varun’s character? Since he is the hero of the film.

The film is not able to answer many questions, apart from this, it has been reminded of many films, apart from Junoon, the association of this film with Kantara and Hugh Jackman’s Hollywood film Wolverine is also felt. Significantly, despite the weak story, the case Has not become cumbersome. The reason for this is a one-liner full of comedy. The film keeps laughing from beginning to end. The dialogues in the film are excellent. Like Stree, in this film too, the use of thick Hindi words has created a lot of laughter. There are also a lot of messages in the dialogue of the film. North East is an important part of the story of the film, along with the important message of protecting the environment, the film also raises the issue of discrimination against the North East.

Bhediya Movie Review and Analysis

Every film is bound by a thought or ideology. The world of his characters revolves around the same thinking. Even if the characters do not have a direct relationship with him. Here that thought or idea is the difference between man and nature. You will find traces of this throughout the film. It does not remain under cover or hidden anywhere. Kept completely obvious. You come across characters like Bhaskar who believes that nature is the pot kept on the balcony. The rest of the jungle-vangal is all illusion. Then some people are fanatically in favor of saving nature. The hero searches for his arc from among them. Which is also completed correctly. We are all in Bhaskar’s world. Let’s follow each of its transitions. The change that comes in him till the end of the story does not bother him. But seeing Bhaskar as the center of the story, the film suffers at one point.

The wolf bites Bhaskar, He starts killing humans by becoming a wolf on the full moon night. Wants to fix itself somehow. It never matters that what strange wolf bit him that he changed. Because of this, the audience also remains invested in how it will be treated. The mystery of the wolf that bit him goes unnoticed. The disadvantage of the film is that the suspense that opens in the climax does not hit. It comes and passes like any other moment. Perhaps even the film is not in the mood to make it grand.

Niren Bhatt has written Bhediya. He has worked on projects like ‘Bala’ and ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chasma. His command of comedy is very strong. You will see its sample here also in the whole film. Bhediya was promoted as a horror-comedy like Stree. Some jumpscares come in the horror part. On some occasions, startles lightly but does not create an effect like jumping out of the seat. However, humor does its job perfectly. Takes every single shot and never misses. Niren Bhatt designs his punches keeping in mind today’s audience. Written specifically keeping in mind the people in the age group of 18 to 35 years. Those who follow pop culture closely. You listen to I am the Danger by ‘Breaking Bad’.

Bhediya Review

Listen to Shahnaz Gill’s dialogue ‘Kya karoon main mar jaoon, meri koi feelings nahi hai’. Punches have been used everywhere before the climax gets serious. Along with Niren Bhatt’s writing, it is important to talk about Amar Kaushik’s direction. He also directed Stree which came in 2018. Amar does not let the entertainment value of the story fade by bringing it from paper to screen. The small world created by Niren was presented in such a way that while watching the film, attention is lost on the world outside it. Some things may stumble during the runtime of two hours 36 minutes, but they are not such that the film should be rejected.

Often one side keeps on writing on social media that Varun Dhawan does not know acting. He does overact, to support such things, examples of films like ‘Coolie No. 1’ and ‘Judwaa 2’ are taken. However, these things will not come to mind while watching Bhediya. The film is a pure entertainer. There was scope to over-dramatize things. But Varun who became Bhaskar does not do this. He looks in control. He delivers as much emotion and expression as was required. Kriti Sanon played the role of Dr. Anika in the film. Anika is surrounded by uncertainty. Do this or that. Kriti can properly place the dilemma of her part on her face. At one point, Anika is also projected as Bhaskar’s love interest. The issue is that the film does not do any work on his backstory to make him such an important character leaving that part blank.

After these two actors come the three most important characters of the story, played by Abhishek Banerjee, Deepak Dobriyal and Palin Kabak. You must remember the name Stree. Was an entertaining character. Here Abhishek’s character is the same, and he entertains equally. The best comedic punches of the film came from this character. And Abhishek also delivers them in style. Palin accompanies him in the film and its comedy. This is his first film. He played the character named Jomin. Deepak Dobriyal’s character’s name is Panda. Deepak approaches him in such a way that the character never seems out of place. Sometimes they make it fun. So, if needed, he is also given his share of seriousness.

Bhediya Review: The Last Words

The film is technically very strong, and the cinematography of the film is excellent. The beauty of the forests of Arunachal has been used in the best way on the screen. Which enhances the effect of the story. The VFX of the film is also superb. The way Varun has been shown to become an interesting wolf. Talking about the music of the film, the responsibility was on the shoulders of composers Sachin-Jigar and Amitabh Bhattacharya. There are two songs in the film, Baaki Sab Tak Tak and Jungle Mein Kand Ho Gaya, but both songs did not feature the song Thumkeshwari. Despite the flaws of the screenplay, this film can be seen because of the brilliant dialogues, excellent acting, beautiful location and lively VFX.
