Berlin Season 2: The Netflix Series Renewed for Second Season
Great news for fans of Berlin fans Berlin Season 2 is coming, a spin-off of Money Heist which saw the return of Pedro Alonso in the role of one of the most emblematic and charismatic characters of the series. The news comes after the excellent reception given to the first season, demonstrating the public’s persistent interest in the events linked to the charismatic character of Berlin (played by Pedro Alonso). A success that was predicted but not taken for granted for a spin-off that was able to impose itself with its own identity while maintaining a link with the original series from which it draws inspiration. Just two months after its launch, Netflix has decided to continue focusing on this heist series which, to date, is in the top 10 of the most-watched Netflix titles in the world. But what do we know, to date, about Berlin Season 2? What can we expect from the plot of the new episodes and who will return to the cast? Let’s find out together.
Berlin Season 2 Will Happen
The series has reached an important milestone, entering the Top 10 of the most-watched non-English series ever on the platform. With a total of 53.1 million views, Berlin earned ninth place in this ranking. On February 19, 2024, Netflix posted a tweet to announce the second season. Filming will probably begin in 2025.
Berlin, the spin-off TV Series of Money Heist
The first season, created by Álex Pina and Esther Martínez Lobato, tells the past of the character played by Pedro Alonso. Berlin, in his golden years, in a time in which he did not yet have the premonition of the disease that would strike him, is guided by a conviction: love and a large amount of money are the elements that have the power to transform radically a day from negative to unforgettable. Andrés de Fonollosa plotted one of his most audacious coups, literally evaporating jewels worth 44 million euros. We don’t know the plot of the second season yet, but the episodes could tell a new heist and continue the love story.
Berlin: The Plot of the First Season
Berlin is the first spin-off of Money Heist dedicated to the character also known as Andrés de Fonollosa played by Pedro Alonso. There’s still a lot we don’t know about Berlin despite his past being explored in Season 5 of Money Heist. We know about his five ex-wives which he had described as the “5 times he believed in love”, we know that he is the Professor’s brother, we know how his father died and how he met Palermo, Marsella, and Bogotá but there is still so much more to tell and it is precisely this unknown that becomes the plot of season number 1 of Berlin. Only two things can transform a day from terrible to memorable without fail: love and lots of easy money. This is precisely why he supported Berlin in the best years when he still didn’t suspect he was ill and wasn’t even trapped like a mouse in the Spanish Mint. Here he begins to prepare one of his most spectacular coups, magically making jewels worth 44 million disappear with the help of one of the three teams with which he worked.
Berlin Season 2: What We Can Expect
The first season of Berlin saw the protagonists of the series dealing with a big score: a jewel robbery to be concluded in 15 hours. Despite the difficulties during the robbery, in the end, the robbery is carried out successfully and Berlin, with the help of Damien and Keila who eliminates the evidence, manages to escape the police. Camille, however, claims part of the proceeds of the Berlin robbery by following him to Spain, confronting him and obtaining part of the money. The relationship between Berlin and Camille remains complicated and uncertain, especially after she discovers the secrets that Berlin kept hidden from her and certainly in the new season of the series the bond between the two will be deepened and the evolution of their relationship will be told. Furthermore, having managed to escape from the police without the police having photos to identify them as the perpetrators of the robbery, Berlin and Damien are already thinking about the new big heist which will certainly be carried out in the new chapter of the series. But for now, we just have to wait.
