Beef Series: The Story Recap
Beef Series is completely inspired by Los Angeles, a city that can only be traversed in anger by car. On the one hand, Amy is a successful entrepreneur who reclaims her business. She masquerades as a feminist during mushroom dinners with other prominent personalities in the art world, she wants to enjoy the money she has earned and takes this kindness to the extreme that even she doesn’t feel towards others. The moment she has the chance to step outside the box she does. Danny, however, lives on the reverse side of the coin. She doesn’t own much and relies on a cousin who is in and out of prison. He has to look after his brother and is very attached to his family who wants to move to Los Angeles at all costs. When they collide in the opening scenes – and turn into the argument that will drive them throughout the series – we see two people on the verge of a nervous breakdown.
Amy and Danny‘s unhappiness attempts to be justified throughout the course of the series. Both protagonists enter into a sort of emotional and psychological burnout whereby they show their contempt for all the people around them and the weaknesses of others. In Beef Series, Amy does it with her husband and Danny with her brother, both in different ways attempting to emotionally sabotage the two closest people. The interpretations of Yeun and Wong appear to the viewer full of simplicity and truth, they exude the wickedness of their characters through vitriolic jokes. It is Wong’s performance that stands out– coming from a career in the comedy genre – brings her appeal even in this different and dramatic role.
Yeun is also challenged by his character. The man tries to keep his life going and tries in every way to make ends meet. The lead pair don’t often share screen time, but when they do Beef Series is truly thrilling. We’re not forced to ultimately see them together as a romantic couple because their bond goes beyond that. Amy and Danny share the darkness of their characters. For this, Beef Series enjoys playing with different backgrounds. Not only from this opposition does a voluntary denunciation of today’s society arise. Amy has a luxurious home that she shares with her family; Danny shares a small flat with his younger brother Paul (Young Mazino).
Beef Netflix Ending Explained: What Happened With Paul?
The protagonists of the Beef Series get into a fight that will have consequences for both of them. Amy writes in white paint on Danny’s car, while the contractor tries to crash a presentation for the businesswoman in Las Vegas. In addition, to take revenge, they must solve their family problems. Danny wants to buy land and build a house so that his parents, who returned to their country after losing their motel due to his cousin Isaac’s illegal business, can return to the United States. Unable to get a loan, he joins the church and offers to do some remodeling to keep some of the loan money. Meanwhile, Amy, who has worked for many years to build her business, wants to sell her brand to a billionaire named Jordan so she can spend more time with her daughter June and her husband George, who is cheating on her with Mia.
Due to her marital problems, Amy gets involved with Paul, who loves her despite her deceit. However, her relationship ends badly when he asks her for a loan. To get money, Danny suggests robbing Amy’s house, but after meeting George, she backs off. However, Isaac’s men, who now control the church scam, continue with the robbery. Fumi, Amy’s mother-in-law, thwarts the robbery but is injured. All this fuss puts the protagonists of BEEF at risk, since Naomi, Amy’s neighbor, and Jordan’s sister-in-law, threatens to discover the truth. Amy meets with Danny and offers him a large sum of money to stop Naomi. However, soon after, she calls off the deal, as Fumi accepts the blame. To get out of trouble and keep Isaac’s money, the contractor holds him responsible and gets him sent to prison.
Do Amy and Danny Work Out Their Problems?
Eight months later, Danny is ready to bring his parents, and Amy closed the deal and has more time for her family. However, it doesn’t take long for problems to appear, George confesses to his wife about his “spiritual connection” with Mia and invites Danny to her party. The contractor discovers that the businesswoman is Kayla and confronts her about cheating on Paul. Later, Paul tells the truth to George, who leaves the house with his daughter. Elsewhere, Danny’s house burns down, and the contractor believes it was Amy as revenge for ruining their marriage. Although he realizes that he made a mistake in the electrical installation, he prefers to lie to his brother.
Danny looks for George, but Amy’s husband calls the police. The contractor escapes in a car, not realizing that June was in the back. He tries to patch things up, but Isaac shows up and takes the girl away to hold the businesswoman for ransom. The complicated situation ends with the rescue of June, the arrest of Isaac, the escape of the Cho brothers, and Amy losing custody of her daughter. As the contractor escapes, he runs into the businesswoman and another chase ensues that ends in a car accident. The protagonists of Beef Series survive but are trapped in a place with no signal. The way back and some toxic berries allow her to speak honestly and resolve their differences. However, when George finds them, he misreads the situation and shoots Danny. Happily, Danny survives and is taken to the hospital. Amy goes with him and lies next to him until he wakes up.
