Babylon: Classic Hollywood Relives With Brad Pitt And Margot Robbie In The Official Trailer

Damien Chazelle‘s highly anticipated Babylon finally has a trailer. The La La Land director was in attendance at the Toronto International Film Festival, where he presented the massive project, calling it “the hardest film I’ve ever made,” with Margot Robbie, Brad Pitt and Toby Maguire leading a truly stellar cast. Set in Hollywood in the late 1920s, during the film industry’s transition from silent to sound cinema, Babylon explores the rise and fall of multiple characters and has been described as “The Great Gatsby On Steroids“.

Babylon Trailer Starring Brad Pitt And Margot Robbie

A wild-haired Margot Robbie opens the trailer by telling newcomer Diego Calva: “I just want everyone to party forever” We are then invited to take part in a wild party that includes, among others, an alligator on a leash, copious use of drugs, topless women and Pitt shooting several guns, dancing in his underwear and falling off a balcony. All this is accompanied by a maniacal big band soundscape.

The cast of Babylon is among the most important of the year: in addition to the protagonist Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie, in fact, in the film, there will also be Olivia Wilde, Tobey Maguire (in the role of Charlie Chaplin), Samara Weaving, Jean Smart, Li Jun Li, Jovan Adepo, Katherine Waterston, Flea, Lukas Haas, Rory Scovel, PJ Byrne, Spike Jonze, Chloe Fineman, Jeff Garlin and Max Minghella. At some point, Emma Stone was also expected to star in the film, which would have made her return to work with Chazelle after La La Land, but ultimately due to scheduling conflicts, she left her role to Margot Robbie.
