Baby John Movie Review: Cinematography is Worth Watching, But Music Disappoints!

Varun Dhawan‘s action thriller film Baby John is released in theaters today on the occasion of Christmas. The film, made in the direction of Kalees, is produced by Attlee. Kirti Suresh, Vamika Gabbi, Jackie Shroff, and Rajpal Yadav have important roles in the film along with Varun Dhawan. In 2015, Thalapati Vijay gave the last flop film of her career. The name of that film was ‘Puli’. Fantasy drama on a huge budget. Who could barely recover his cost? Vijay was realized after this film. He made some changes to his working method. After this, he was transformed into a superstar, in front of which no one was talking about the bus. It started in 2016 with the film ‘Theri‘. Which was directed by a film old Attlee Kumar. Since then, no film tickets for Vijay have been on the window. 8 years later, the same Attlee Kumar has remade the ‘Theri‘ of the producer Vijay in Hindi. The name of this film is Baby John. There are many ways to remake movies. A filmmaker spiritually remakes a film. Someone tells the same story in their way.

And some filmmakers copy films by scene in the name of a remake. Baby John is the third type of remake. The story is the story, even Makers did not change the names of some of the film’s characters. For example, the name of the son of Maine Villon in the film. How famine the original stories are in Bollywood these days can be gauged from the remakes and sequel films being made in a large number of cases. Varun Dhawan‘s lead role film Baby John is also the result of this drought of good original stories. The film is presented with Hindi dubbing on YouTube and other OTT platforms. As such, after nearly 10 years, this story was launched by Attlee‘s production company in Bollywood with a chance at Christmas, but there must have been something new. Sadly, Baby John is a scene-rate scene imitation of ‘Theri‘ in addition to the weak sub-plot of Gers Trafficking. On top of that, neither Varun Dhawan on the screen looks like a ‘spark’ with Thalapati Vijay, nor does its director Kalis hold his mentor Attlee who directs the original film.

Baby John Movie Review: The Story Plot

The story is of Baby John aka Satya Verma (Varun Dhawan), who is pursuing a common life with daughter Khushi (Jara), who has been following her past. Baby John‘s world running a bakery in Kerala revolves around his daughter. But one day, due to a girl escaping from the goons, when her daughter’s life is in danger, she has to turn the old pages of the past. The story reaches Mumbai 6 years behind, where Deputy Commissioner of Police Satya Verma is a superhero of the public due to his honesty and bravery. During this time, in the case of heinous rape and murder of a child, he collides with the bullying (Jackie Shroff) that keeps the police and leaders in his pocket, who run the business of child trafficking. Fearless Satya teaches her rapist son a lesson without being afraid of Nana’s awe, but he has to bear the brunt of his love and wife Meera (Kirti Suresh) and mother (Sheeba Chadha). As such, to what extent does Satya Verma, who has been living an anonymous life for six years, go to save her daughter? How does one compete with Nana’s empire? To know this, you have to watch this film for about three hours, which seems childish in many places.

Baby John Movie Review and Analysis

Baby John is a Proper Masala Entertainer. The film has a lot of action sequences choreographed in a great way. It is a dialog. The comedy is Romance is Don’t Have Newness. That too when ‘Theri‘ is available on the OTT platform in many languages. In the past, Karthik Aryan had a film called ‘Shahzada’. You may not notice the name of this film. When did this picture come and when did it go, no one got ear-ear news. ‘Shahzada’ was a Hindi remake of Allu Arjun’s smash hit ‘Ala Vaikunthpurmulo’. ‘Ala Vaikunthapurmulo’ is a film that tells the country where a star named Allu Arjun was born. The film was lying on YouTube to the OTT platform. Which was seen in large numbers. Why would anyone see the film that people have seen in the language of their choice again? The makers of Baby John probably didn’t think that.

By the way, the selection of actors in any film plays a very important role. In the Magar remake, this is probably the biggest decision with which actor this film should be made. Makers of Baby John also seem to have missed here. Varun Dhawan is a cincier actor. He has done different roles in his career. His work in Baby John is also fine. Magar viewers will repeatedly compare him to Thalapati Vijay in this role. Varun will eat Mat. Because now he has not reached the point of his career where he should do anything and people consider him his style. That stardom and aura are not yet with Varun. And it is not their fault. Seeing Baby John came as a chance when I felt that Director Kalees had gone into ‘God Mode’. That chance comes before Climax. The most Masi scene and dialogue of this film is part of Rajpal Yadav. Rajpal has done comic roles in hundreds of films. In this film, he gets a chance to say that ‘Comedy is a serious business’.

This is the most money-charged scene of the film. Jackie Shroff looks terrible in Nana Ji’s role in the film. He is also perhaps the strongest link in this film on the acting front. Kirti Suresh’s much-awaited Hindi cinema debut was great. Vamika Gabbi’s work hopes for a better future. Another drawback of Baby John was that some scenes could be easily removed from the film. Because they were not adding anything to the plot. Just increasing the length of the film. He was placed in the film simply because he was also a part of the scene’s original film. If the length of the film had been reduced slightly, the case would have been crisp. Although Baby John is not a boring film. You will find every spice you have tasted before. This is also the biggest drawback of this film.

Commercials are often said not to mind such movies, but when wearing the city’s DCP uniform, the ladies start drinking juice at someone’s baby shower. Whenever you disappear from the city, after 6 years, when you want to come back on duty wearing a uniform, it becomes difficult to ignite even if you want to. There is action in the story, there is emotion, there is romance, there is suspense, dancing, singing, and all the things like social messages, but other things do not affect the action. The way a sensitive subject like rape and child trafficking is filmed, it does not soak the mind except for a single scene. Yes, the action prepared by mail of 8 action directors is strong. However, some scenes are so gruesome and violent, they can spoil the festive mood of Christmas. Talking about acting, Kirti Suresh looks beautiful. Vamika Gabbi is impressed, but her character should have been further explored. Child artist Zara wins her heart out of innocence. While Rajpal Yadav takes applause in his monologue and last scene. Now if the clap in the film of Hero Varun Dhawan is playing for the associate artist Rajpal Yadav, then obviously Varun needs to work harder on his acting.

All of his good looks, swag, and style close-up scenes seem inadequate. Jackie Shroff is also being typecast in the caricature villain. Action and cinematography make the film stronger. Whereas Thaman is not a memorable thing even in guided songs. However, the title track and the song ‘Nan Matkah’ have been discussed. Salman Khan has a cameo in the film and it is going to kill. Salman is in his brother-in-law’s avatar, for which he is known. While the applause in the theater plays on the monologue of the Rajpal, the seats start buzzing with Salman’s arrival. He has done a lot of work on the screen as well as a lot of warts and of course, his fans will like it. Kalees‘s direction is effective, but the screenplay and storyline have many drawbacks. However, in the film, he tries to raise social issues. The father-daughter relationship is presented emotionally, but the foundation of the story is weak. The authors have created a complex and outdated story by considering the audience as smarter. Many parts are predictable and lack emotional connection.

The film seems to be being pulled till the end. Research is lacking in the kind of subject of the film. The film has plenty of action but does not show synergy between comedy and emotional scenes. Punch lines that attract viewers are seen as lacking in his film. The film’s dialogue has also not received any special attention. The main villain was not fully used. At the same time, Salman Khan’s cameo seems needless. The film is a remake of Tamil ‘Theri’, but some scenes have been changed after the Interval. Especially in the character of Vamika Gabbi. By the way, along with the action, the combo of emotion will also be seen in the film. Talking about acting, Kirti Suresh’s pairing with Varun Dhawan was very frozen. Both have performed brilliantly. Also, you are going to like the performance of Jara Jiana, she played Khushi Verma in the film. Jackie Shroff’s look is strong, but a little more work was needed on his dialogues. There is also Rajpal Yadav in the film, who will also be seen giving you laughter in between.

At the same time, Kalees has also done wonders in this direction. He has worked on small things with big bars. The film’s cinematography is worth watching, but the film’s music disappoints a bit. There is no doubt that the background south is tremendous, but for music lovers, film songs will definitely disappoint. The first half of the film is a bit slow, which can make you feel a bit bored, but the film catches up as soon as the second half arrives. Overall, you can watch this film with your entire family. Talking about the songs of the film, there is no other song than Nan Matkah’. Thaman’s background score is strong and improves the film’s atmosphere. Varun Dhawan‘s new style, action, and emotion have been seen in this film. The film tries to touch on social issues. The film released on Christmas can be seen once, but it does not seem to be more effective due to the weak story and long screenplays.

Baby John Movie Review: The Last Words

Looking at Baby John, the most interesting thing is that Attlee did not bring Tamil cinema to Mumbai. He has taken Mumbai to Tamil Nadu. The treatment of this film is entirely a South Indian film. If you like watching that kind of over-the-top action-thriller movie, then you will like Baby John. Jabra Fan of Varun Dhawan, fond of the spice action films of the South or Bhaijan Salman, wants to have a glimpse on the big screen, then cut its ticket. The film is released under the banner of Cine 1 Studios with Xiao Studios and A for Apple. It has the best synergy of emotions, action, music, and laughter. The rest of Christmas is a chance, Pushpa 2 you have already seen, so you can go to the theater and see Baby John. If you are a fan of Varun Dhawan or Tamil films, you will enjoy it a lot. And anyway, Varun Dhawan himself has said that many have come like me, but if I have come for the first time, then going to the theater to welcome it is made.
