Just weeks after the release of the highly anticipated film, the sequel is almost ready to hit theaters. Franchise producer Jon Landau confirmed on social media that the film completed post-production just this week. Accompanying a photo of the film’s post-production team, he wrote: “Congratulations to the entire Avatar: The Way of Water family. Yesterday we completed the final mix and burn of the images, and I took this photo of our post-production team. I am grateful to each of you for your contribution to the film“. Avatar 2 will be forbidden to children under 13 for some scenes of partial nudity and violence that will be contained in the film.

After the theatrical release, scheduled for December 16, 2022, the film could also go streaming on Disney+. Many films from the production house have undergone the same treatment, everything will depend on the box office. A recent estimate puts the number in excess of $100 million for the opening weekend. Also, the film has been confirmed for the first time in China, which means that a huge box office return is almost a guarantee. The shortest possible window for Avatar 2 to stream is 45 days. This could bring the film to Disney+ in early February.
