Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, The First Critic’s Reactions from The World Premiere

The world premiere of Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania took place last night in Los Angeles, the thirty-first film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the third film dedicated to the character of Ant-Man, directed by Peyton Reed, with Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly and Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror (a variant of the same character seen in Loki Season 1, who at that time called himself “The One Who Remains”). At the end of the screening, the press embargo regarding the “hot reactions” of social networks has expired. We, therefore, offer you a selection of the opinions shared by the spectators present in the room. The audience consisted of critics, influencers, and common guests present by invitation.

Directed by Peyton Reed and produced by Kevin Feige and Stephen Broussard, the third Ant-Man film is also the 31st film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the first film in Phase Five. The film sees the return of Paul Rudd as Scott Lang/Ant-Man and Evangeline Lilly as Hope van Dyne/Wasp, with Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfeiffer reprising their roles of Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne. Kathryn Newton joins the cast as Scott’s grown daughter, Cassie. The film also stars Jonathan Majors as Kang, the next major villain in Marvel’s Phase Five. Jeff Loveness wrote the screenplay for the film and is also set to write the upcoming The Kang Dynasty, which will star Majors’ villain.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, The First Critic’s Reactions

The first reactions from critics seem enthusiastic and speak of a worthy initiation into Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film is described as psychedelic, a roller coaster full of scary and hilarious situations. For those who saw Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania in the world premiere, the film is the best of the trilogy dedicated to Paul Rudd’s hero. The villains, MODOK and Kang the Conqueror are especially applauded, but it is the latter who receives all the love and support of the audience. And some write that Thanos was just the aperitif waiting for him to arrive! There is no shortage of criticism, from those who define it as “the strangest film of the MCU” to those who speak of a rather flat first part. Some underline the fact that the “Marvel” jokes have been lowered by at least 20 times and therefore the film is much darker than expected. Among the other points in favor, some praise the father-daughter relationship that accompanies the entire film.
