All BAFTA 2025 Nominees: Complete List of Nominees and All the Details of the Award

Award nominees for BAFTA 2025, which are like the British Oscars, have already been revealed and bring us even closer to what we could see at the Academy Awards. The most nominated film in this year’s awards is Conclave, where Ralph Fiennes plays a cardinal who, during the conclave to elect a new Pope, discovers a secret and a conspiracy that could have devastating repercussions for the church. The film stands out for its performances, for its photography, and the script. After Conclave Emilia Pérez, the musical film that has caused much controversy for details such as having no more Mexican actors, despite developing in Mexico, and the fact that its creators, who are French, did not take the time to study the culture and the country of the that they were going to speak, among other things. Further, The Substance also received several nominations, the Brazilian I’m Still Here is at the top of the non-English speaking film category, and The Brutalist is still among the favorites. The BAFTA Awards will take place on February 16.

Heading the nominations selected by the British Academy of Motion Picture and Television Arts is Conclave, the thriller directed by Edward Berger that addresses the ethical dilemmas of a cardinal in the election of a new pope. The film, based on the Robert Harris novel, leads with 12 nominations, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor for Ralph Fiennes, and Best Supporting Actress for Isabella Rossellini. The film seeks to repeat the success of No News on the Front, also from Berger, who won seven BAFTA awards in 2023.

Second, with 11 nominations, is Emilia Pérez, the musical directed by Jacques Audiard about a Mexican trans cartel boss. Karla Sofía Gascón competes as best actress, while Selena Gomez and Zoe Saldaña were included in the category of best supporting actress.

The Brutalist, a historical drama directed by Brady Corbet and starring Adrien Brody, completed the podium with nine nominations.

On the other hand, 14 of the 24 nominated actors compete in the BAFTA Film Awards for the first time. Among them are Mikey Madison (Anora), Kieran Culkin (To Real Pain), and Yura Borisov (Anora). However, there were also notable surprises and omissions. Denzel Washington failed his first BAFTA nomination for his job at Gladiator II, while Nicole Kidman and Luca Guadagnino were left out by Babygirl and Challengers, respectively.

In addition, Coralie Fargeat, director of The Substance, is the only woman nominated in the best management category, despite the presence of other filmmakers in the preliminary longlists.
