Alice in Borderland Season 2: Everything You Need To Know About The Netflix Series Before Seeing It
Last December, when the world was spending the holiday season at home, Netflix unveiled the perfect remedy for a holiday spent locked away: its new hit series, Alice in Borderland. This year she is ready to repeat the experience by bringing Alice In Borderland Season 2 to the screen. Based on the popular manga series written and illustrated by Haro Aso, the action drama follows a group of friends who are transported to a parallel dimension called Borderland. To make it out alive, they must compete in a series of deadly games that test their friendships. The Japanese thriller introduced us to an alternative, desolate Tokyo where a handful of strangers have collided in a series of often deadly games decided by brains, brawn, and betrayal. Full of twists and turns, and emotional losses, it quickly became a fan favorite, and after reaching the Netflix Top 10 in over 40 countries and territories, it seemed like a no-brainer to commission a second season.
But who will be there and what will be the plot? Well, here’s what we know so far about Alice In Borderland Season 2. The live-action adaptation of Alice In Borderland will return for a second season. Netflix announced the renewal of the series on Christmas Eve 2020 with a short teaser video. In the clip, a hand reaches out to take a poker card with the number two written on it as ominous music plays in the background. The announcement was made just two weeks after the first season premiered on Netflix on December 10. The tv series quickly gained popularity in Japan and throughout Asia, including Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines. It also ranked in the Top 10 Trends in countries such as Germany, France, Portugal and Austria. But is there a release date for Alice In Borderland Season 2? Yes, Alice In Borderland Season 2 will premiere exclusively on the streaming platform on December 22, 2022.
Who is in the Cast of Alice In Borderland Season 2?
Below we bring you some of the details about the second season, the original cast is expected to return for the sequel. Kento Yamazaki will reprise his role as the series protagonist, Ryōhei Arisu, while Tao Tsuchiya will return as Yuzuha Usagi, the heroine and Arisu’s only surviving partner in the games. Other cast members likely to return include Nijiro Murakami as Chishiya, Aya Asahina as Kuina, Ayaka Miyoshi as An, and Riisa Naka as Mira.
What Will Be The Plot Of Alice In Borderland Season 2?
Alice In Borderland Season 2 will pick up where the first season left off. Now that the beach, which was once a safe haven in the Borderlands, has been destroyed after the witch hunts, most players have gone their separate ways. We learn that not everyone in the parallel dimension is a player: there are croupiers too. Momoka and Asahi, fellow residents at the Beach, were revealed as drug dealers but ended up sacrificing their lives to expose the truth. For those who don’t remember, the first season of the series ended with Arisu and Usagi discovering video recordings kept in Asahi’s phone about the drug dealers’ secret underground control room. But when they arrived at the scene, they were surprised to find Chishiya and Kuina there as well, and that most of the drug dealers had been brutally murdered.
Later, a special broadcast revealed that former Beach executive Mira was one of the masterminds. She also announced that the next phase of the games would soon begin. It’s a perfect cliffhanger that pretty much set the stage for the second season: the remaining players will compete in a new round of matches, and this time they will be challenged to complete the missions of the figures, which were previously missing in the first phase. Later chapters of the manga series will focus on Arisu and Usagi discovering more truths about Borderland, as well as the team of “citizens” who run it. One thing’s for sure: Season 2 will prove that the stakes are higher, and it’s only going to get bloodier from here on out.
