Adoration Season 1 Ending Explained: Who Killed Elena and What Happened to Giorgio?

Vanessa discovers her friend’s ring in her boyfriend Gianmarco’s (Luigi Bruno) car and believes him responsible for what happened to Elena. However, Gianmarco explains that he lent the car to Giorgio (Giulio Brizzi). When the couple confronts him, Vane’s cousin reveals that he was having an affair with Elena and that they saw each other that night, but they argued because he didn’t agree to run away to Rome with her, so he took her home. Elena’s friends turn to Chiara (Barbara Chichiarelli), a police officer and aunt of Melissa (Federica Bonocore), to report the teenager’s disappearance. As the investigation begins, someone on a social network claims to be Elena, which is alarming to some and, to others, a confirmation that the young woman only wants to draw attention. However, Elena’s body appears and shocks the town.

Who Impersonated Elena on Social Media?

Chiara discovers that Melissa, who was Giorgio’s girlfriend, sent the mysterious messages and even wrote to Vanessa. To protect their niece, the police hide this information, but question the teenager, who claims that she only did it because she was bored. The reality is that she was jealous of Elena. Following the murder of the protagonist of “Adoration” an investigation begins that reveals several secrets that threaten to destroy the lives of those involved. Each of Elena’s friends knows something she isn’t telling, has a secret connection to her, and could be involved in the case in some way. So, who killed Elena?

Who Killed Elena?

Early evidence points to Giorgio, who is eventually arrested. However, he is not the last person to have seen Elena before her death and he is not guilty. Enrico was the one who murdered his girlfriend. After discovering that she was cheating on him with Giorgio, he hunted her down and strangled her to death. His father, who works in the military, helped him cover the crime. After her transition to look like Elena and watching a video of her friend, Vanessa realizes that Enrico is the culprit and that she never noticed the signs of violence in her friend. Desperate, she confronts Enrico, who apparently won’t admit anything. Gianmarco stops her and calms her down until he realizes that his girlfriend is always in love with her best friend.

Does Enrico Pay for His Crime?

He tries to do something but realizes that without evidence against Enrico, he will only look like he is trying to defend his cousin. However, Enrico does not escape justice, as his mother discovers a speeding ticket from the night Elena died and after confronting her son, she discovers the terrible truth. Instead of hiding his son’s crime, he hands over the evidence against him to Chiara. At the end of the first season of “Adoration,” Enrico is arrested. What happened to Giorgio? Although it is not shown what happened to him, he was likely released after Enrico was proven guilty.

The Evolution of Vanessa and her Relationship with Elena

Vanessa transforms throughout the series. Initially, a loyal friend but blind to the signs of abuse Elena was suffering, she eventually accepts the reality of who the people around her are. Her obsession with finding justice not only reveals the truth about Elena’s death but also exposes her repressed feelings towards her friend, suggesting that she was in love with her. Vanessa’s relationship with Gianmarco, her boyfriend, also deteriorates when he fails to understand her grief and proves unable to accept her complex emotions. This conflict reinforces the series’ central idea: love and obsession can be both redemptive and destructive forces.
