The series written by Amapola Cogan, Rubi Thomas, Zia Ahmed, and Ajoke Ibironke begins with Andie walking through the streets of the small town of Little Kilton, dirty and with a head wound. Five years later, although her body was never found, they closed the case when her boyfriend Sal Singh (Rahul Pattni) was found dead in the woods due to an overdose of pills and after sending a text admitting his guilt. Five years later, Pip chooses the case for his school project. As he begins to investigate, he discovers that some people are better off leaving the crime buried forever. He first interviews Sal’s friends, Naomi Ward (Yasmin Al-Khudhairi) and Max Hastings (Henry Ashton), who testified that Singh was not with them when the crime occurred. Although neither of them reveals anything fundamental, it is clear that they are hiding something. Why did they change their statement and leave Sal without an alibi?

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder: Plot Summary

In 2019, in a small town in the English hinterland, where everyone or almost everyone knows each other, Andie Bell, a teenager older than the protagonist of this story, mysteriously disappears: the body is never found but her boyfriend confesses to her murder and then commits suicide. At that point, the family becomes a pariah, and everyone tries to forget the terrible event. Five years later, Pip (Emma Myers, the little wolf Enid from Wednesday on whom the platform is certainly banking for the success of the show) does not feel satisfied with that resolution and decides to use an EPQ – a project that is being prepared in England and Wales to get into some colleges – as a pretext to personally start new investigations that shed light on that case. Obviously in the town, especially about the families involved, no one wants to bring up the past and the pain it has caused so many, and therefore no one is willing to talk to Pip. But she, determined and stubborn, will stop at nothing to find the truth, even to her own detriment.

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder Ending Explained: What is Pip’s Real Motivation?

The protagonist of A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder insists that she wants to prove Sal’s innocence, and maybe there’s some of that, but the reality is that she feels guilty. Why? Pippa was one of the last people to see Andie at school before she disappeared. Andie gestured to a young Pip (Kitty Anderson) not to reveal her location, but when Sal showed up looking for his girlfriend, the girl pointed in her direction. She needs Sal to not be innocent. Pip also interviews Andie’s best friends Emma Hutton (Georgia Arron) and Nat Da Silva (Jessica Webber), who warn her not to investigate any further. During her best friend Cara Ward’s (Asha Banks) birthday camping trip, Pippa receives a threatening note and as she gets closer to the truth, she receives a series of text messages in the same vein. One of Pip’s main allies is Ravi Singh (Zain Iqbal), Sal’s brother. With his help, she discovers that Andie is dating an older man, dealing drugs, and visiting a hotel far from Little Kilton. To get all this information, Pippa exposes herself to many dangers. When she is close to the truth, Officer Daniel da Silva (Jackson Bews) shows her a video that makes her doubt Sal’s innocence, which later causes a heated argument with Ravi.

Why Did Sal’s Friends Give False Testimony?

Naomi has not been the same since the death of her best friend and in one of her crises, she gives Pip proof of Sal’s innocence: a photograph taken by him at the time of Andie’s death. She also confesses that they changed her testimony for an anonymous threat. Five years ago, after returning from a party, Nami, Max and Jake caused a car accident that left one victim. Max made a call, and they avoided the police. Who did they call? Daniel da Silva (Jackson Bews) admits that he took care of the matter but denies the threats. Max was blackmailing him because he knew he had an affair with Andie. So, who blackmailed Naomi and her friends?

What Happened to Andie Bell and Sal Singh?

The threatening messages that the protagonist of A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder receives show that she is getting closer to the truth, so she decides to publish a video promising to reveal everything about the Andie Bell case to attract the culprit. But she only manages to get her dog Barney killed. Frightened, she decides to give up, however, a call leads her to the person responsible: Elliot Ward (Mathew Baynton), professor and Cara’s father. After leaving her phone in Elliot’s car, she shares the location with Ravi and calls the police before going after her friend’s father. Pip believes the teacher has Andie locked up, but it’s another woman. Elliot took her home thinking she was Andie but locked her up after she confessed her crimes.

Elliot admits that he had an affair with Andie after his wife died. He also says that the young woman met him at a hotel to ask for money in exchange for not accusing him and being able to run away from home. The professor refused to pay her and in the middle of the argument, Andie hit her head. Before Williot could get medical help, the young woman disappeared. He denies being Andie’s killer but admits that he drugged and suffocated Sal. He then sent the text with his confession. Elliot is also behind the blackmail of his daughter Naomi and her friends, but he doesn’t send threatening text messages to Pip or murder Barney. So who killed Andie?

Who Killed Andie Bell?

Pip is unsure if the case is solved, so she goes to visit the only person who might have answers, Elliot, who tells her that Andie wanted the money to escape her father’s authoritarian regime. Jason Bell becomes the new suspect, but an acquaintance proves her wrong. She also reveals that Becca was sexually assaulted the same year her sister disappeared. After confronting Max about the abuse, Pip visits Becca in search of answers. Becca explains that her sister refused to go with her to the police to file a complaint, as she was the one who sold the drugs to Hastings. When Becca heard that her sister was planning to leave her, she went crazy and pushed her. She then disposed of the body in a well, which she offered to take Pippa to. Becca drugs Pip to push her into the same well, but Ravi and Cara arrive in time to save her.

How Does A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder End: All the Answers!

Becca has always been the one threatening Pip, who also killed Barney. Instead, Elliot blackmailed his eldest daughter Naomi and her friend Maxto to avoid being held responsible for Andie’s death. This was because he could then lead Max to lie about Sal’s alibi. But why did Pip decide to investigate Andie’s death? The reason has to do with what happened before her disappearance: he was one of the last people to see her. Sal was looking for Andie and Pip told him where she was. Pip can’t live with the idea that she was the one who led Sal to Andie and refuses to believe that he is responsible. In reality, Andie and Sal didn’t have a contentious relationship; in fact, they were planning to leave town together.

In the finale of A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, Pip connects all the pieces of the puzzle and focuses on one last situation left hanging after Elliot’s arrest, which concerns Becca. Going to her house, he discovers what happened the night Andie died. Becca herself suggests that they go into the woods together, where he can show her where he placed her sister’s body. In reality, the girl drugged her and wanted to kill her. LuckilyCara and Ravi are there to ruin Becca’s plans, tracking Pip down with the ‘Find My Friends’ app. Season 1 ends with Pip wondering if she really wants to go to Cambridge, as she vows to bring justice to those Max has hurt. Not only that, but she also shares a kiss with Ravi!
