Rosaline: The First Official Images Of The Hulu Romantic Comedy Starring Kaitlyn Dever
The romantic comedy Rosaline, from 20th Century Studios and starring Kaitlyn Dever (Dopesick), will debut October 14 as Hulu Original in the United States. Rosaline is light and comical retelling of Shakespeare’s classic love story Romeo and Juliet told from the perspective of Juliet’s cousin Rosaline, who happens to also be a recent love of Romeo. When Romeo (Kyle Allen) meets Juliet (Isabela Merced) and starts courting her, Rosaline tries to sabotage the famous romance and win back her man.

About 10 years ago there was talk of a spin-off of Romeo and Juliet, Rosaline, and since then the project has evolved, finding a new creative direction. The film focuses on a secondary character of Shakespeare’s tragedy, Rosaline: now the first photos arrive. The film, based on the novel When You Were Mine by Rebecca Serle, will stream on 14 October on Hulu.
The film, directed by Karen Maine and written by Scott Neustadter & Michael H. Weber, is a romantic comedy told from the point of view of Juliet’s cousin, Rosaline. The young woman has also been Romeo’s previous love interest, and when Romeo meets Juliet, played by Isabela Merced, Rosaline is heartbroken and starts chasing her, planning to drive the two away and win back the boy.
