Black Mirror Season 6: Will Be Done! Netflix Announces A New Season!
Black Mirror Season 6: Netflix has announced that a new season of Black Mirror is in the works. Variety reports it exclusively, which also adds that casting is underway for this new anthological series. Almost three years have passed since the fifth season of the dystopian drama was presented on the well-known streaming service, in June 2019, so the news of the arrival of new episodes will surely please fans of the acclaimed series.
The plot of the new episodes is currently unknown, but Variety reports that the next season will consist of more episodes than the last, which arrived on Netflix with only 3 episodes and starring Andrew Scott, Anthony Mackie, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Topher Grace, and Miley Cyrus. A source close to the production also reports that next season will be “even more cinematic”, with each episode treated as a single film. This is, of course, in line with recent seasons of Black Mirror, whose episodes usually exceeded 60 minutes and had incredibly high production values.
Black Mirror Season 6: Why So Much Waiting?
The new season of Black Mirror is the first to emerge since series creator Charlie Brooker and his creative partner Annabel Jones left their production company, House of Tomorrow (which was supported by Endemol Shine Group), in January. 2020. The couple then founded their own production company, Broke, and Bones, and Netflix quickly invested in the company through a mega-deal that could reach $100 million. When Brooker and Jones left the House of Tomorrow, however, the rights to Black Mirror remained with parent company Endemol Shine Group, which was ultimately acquired by Banijay Group in the summer of 2020. That deal effectively prevented Brooker and Jones from producing more seasons for Netflix, until a deal was struck with Banijay.

Charlie Brooker himself questioned the future of the series when, two years ago, he said that: “At the moment, I don’t know what kind of stomach it would take for stories about companies falling apart, so I’m not working on anything again. I’m a little eager to revisit my comic skills, so I’ve written scripts aimed at making me laugh. “A deal has finally been reached and Banijay Rights – the company’s distribution arm that owns both the format and the rights to the finished work of Black Mirror – has licensed its hit show to Netflix.
