Ariana Godoy, the author of the book, began writing the novel on the online writing platform Wattpad and it quickly became a hit with users, racking up more than 335 million views on the platform. After this, the novel was later adapted to physical format and later, in April 2021, Netflix announced the production of the film.

The second part of the book “Through you” arrived on Wattpad in 2018 where it has more than 76 million views.
