A TV show dedicated to Godzilla is in production on Apple TV+! The new series will be live-action and will be set in the MonsterVerse and includes the appearance of several Titans. The MonsterVerse franchise began in 2014 with Gareth Edwards ‘ Godzilla reboot. Despite the famous kaijū’s short screen time (up to the third act), the film garnered mostly positive reviews and grossed $524.9 million at the box office. That success paved the way for more films set in the MonsterVerse, including Kong: Skull Island, Godzilla: King of the Monsters and the recent Godzilla vs. Kong, huge success for HBO Max and in theaters both.

In recent times, several tentpole franchises have been looking beyond the big screen to try to exploit the popularity of streaming services. Franchises like Marvel and Star Wars already have their TV series on Disney +, while DC has won HBO Max. Now MonsterVerse wants to take advantage of the golden age of TV series by bringing a monster like Godzilla to the small screen. Apple TV + has announced the new live-action show dedicated to Godzilla, produced by Legendary Television. The series will take place in the MonsterVerse.

It doesn’t have a title yet, but Apple has revealed the synopsis: “After the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that wreaked havoc in San Francisco and the shocking new revelation that monsters are real, the TV series will explore a family’s journey to uncover their buried secrets and a legacy that connects them to the world. ‘Secret organization known as Monarch. ” The series will have Chris Black as executive producer and Matt Fraction as showrunner, along with Black himself. The Toho Company will also have several members of its team on board, including Hiro Matsuoka and Takemasa Arita.
