Munich – The Edge Of War Ending Explained

At the end of Munich – The Edge Of War, Paul has a private conversation with Chamberlain. He tries to convince the British Prime Minister that Hitler is a threat to the whole continent. Chamberlain’s first priority is the safety of his people. If Chamberlain chooses not to sign the peace accord, Hitler will go to war against Czechoslovakia, forcing the French and British to intervene.

Thus, Chamberlain refuses to agree with Paul’s opinion and proceeds to sign the papers of the agreement. Chamberlain takes a precautionary measure by having Hitler sign a joint declaration preventing Britain and Germany from going to war against each other. However, as history has taught us, the peace only lasted a year, and soon the chaos of World War II unleashed by Hitler engulfed the continent. As tragic and unnecessary as the outcome of the Munich Accords was, it gave Britain and her allies a chance to prepare for war.
