Colors of Evil: Black Ending Explained: Who Kidnapped Piotrus and What Happens to Him in the End?

0

Colors of Evil: Black is the continuation of Colors of Evil: Red, which was one of the most-watched Polish thrillers on Netflix. It is not exactly a sequel, but it is a film that presents a different criminal case that belongs to the same universe, since both films are based on the novels by Małgorzata Oliwia Sobczak, and because both have the same prosecutor as their protagonist.

This second film takes place in a small town called Kartuzy and follows the prosecutor Leopold Bilski, who, after the events of the first film, is sent to the town to work, and that happens at a difficult time: a boy named Piotrus mysteriously disappeared, and it is not an isolated case, or at least some things make many connect him with a tragedy that happened previously. Two years earlier, a boy named Adam Poznanski disappeared from the same town, and everyone fears that Piotrus has been kidnapped by the same person and that a tragic end awaits him.

Colors of Evil: Black Ending Explained: Who Kidnapped Piotrus and What Happens to Him in the End?

As expected, Piotrus‘ disappearance sparks an intense investigation, but it also begins to bring old secrets to light and reveals that everyone in the town has something to hide, and that the investigation into Adam’s case has many strange things. Little by little, the crime thriller reveals what really happened, who kidnapped the Pyotrus and who brutally killed Adam (as we see in the first moments of the film, where the boy can be seen with a strange man, who then takes him to the forest).

BEWARE, SPOILER ALERT. Based on the successful novel saga by Małgorzata Oliwia Sobczak, “The Colors of Evil: Black” follows prosecutor Leopold Bilski (Jakub Gierszał) as he investigates a new case after his transfer to a new town. After discovering Monika Bogucka’s real killer, he must find little Piotrus Sarman, who mysteriously disappeared. While following the first clues, he understands that everything is related to a case from the past and some secrets that are hidden in that town. What happened in the Polish Netflix movie?

The police thriller directed by Adrian Panek begins with the murder of little Adam Poznánski in the Trulocz forest. The story then moves to the present day, where Leopold Bilsk receives a call from his former colleague Adam, who asks him for help with the files of Adam Poznánski’s case. When he investigates, he finds no records of the child’s disappearance or his subsequent discovery. While having lunch with a new colleague at the local restaurant, the protagonist of “The Colors of Evil: Black” meets Commander Adamczyk and takes the opportunity to ask him about the case of Adam Poznánski. His superior assures that the mother withdrew the complaint because she remembered that the little boy was with relatives, and also insists that she made the report.

Who Kidnapped Piotrus and What Happens to Him in the End?

In the Polish film, Piotrus is the son of a writer named Julia Sarman, who moved to the town shortly before Bilski’s arrival. Julia and her son live alone. When the boy is kidnapped, she turns to the prosecutor, with whom she had already become friends, to help find him. Julia isn’t exactly new to the town; she lived there years ago and witnessed some abuse committed at the local church, and that leads Bilski to suspect that all of this could be connected to the boy’s disappearance.

Eventually, it is discovered that one of the most powerful families in the town had been covering up a series of sexual abuses committed by the local church (which is why there were no recorded cases in the history of the community) and by family members, mainly against the children who became part of the choir (and Julia herself was one of the victims).

Bilski believes someone in the family could be behind the kidnapping, but the patriarch, who abused Julia years ago, died before she and her son returned, so he cannot be responsible. With this ruled out, Bilski discovers that the murderer is Nicki, Chojnacki’s illegitimate son (with one of the teenagers he had abused), who kidnapped Piotrus from the local fair.

Nicki is dealing with a series of mental problems (connected to her mother’s suicide, her origin, and her obsession with an ancient legend she learned as a child), and so she kidnapped Piotrus, whom she planned to kill. But, luckily, the boy does not suffer the same fate as Adam and is rescued just before Nicki kills him, and manages to reunite with his mother.

Why did he do it? Nicki was obsessed with the local legend of Lopi, a species of vampire that attacks children, and when he heard that Pyotrus was born with the amniotic sac intact, he remembered a part of the legend that says that this phenomenon is related to that vampire and his birth, and believes that he must kill Pyotrus, as part of a sacrificial ritual to prevent the vampire from attacking again.

What is the Secret of the Town Colors of Evil: Black?

Upon his arrival in town, Bilski believes that it is a boring place, that nothing happens and that he will have nothing to do, until he comes across Adam’s case and, upon investigating a little, discovers that the investigation file It is not there and that, at the time, the mother had reported her son missing but then he recanted and said the boy was with one of his cousins. That didn’t sound suspicious to anyone at the time, but the prosecutor is sure there’s something strange about all of that, especially since she never had any contact with the boy again.

And yes, that turned out to be darker than he expected. What the prosecutor discovers is that the town had been hiding a series of sexual abuse of children for years, connected to both the church and the most powerful family there. And for some reason, everyone in the town decided to ignore or keep the secret. Adam’s kidnapping was part of that case of abuse and cover-ups.

Who Kidnapped Piotrus?

Although he suspects Michal Pakozs, he discovers that he is only dealing with his traumas. When she finds out that the myth of vampires is related to children born inside their amniotic sac, she remembers that Julia mentioned that fact in the restaurant, which caught the attention of a diner.

Follow that person’s trail and reach the son that Chojnacki had with Basia, the girl in the photos that they could not identify. Due to the childhood she had, which witnessed her mother’s suicide when she was little, she kidnapped Piotrus. But the police arrived just in time to prevent the sadistic ritual.

At the end of “The Colors of Evil: Black”, Piotrus returns to his mother. It is revealed that Adam Poznánski died accidentally while trying to escape, and Chojnacki’s son took it upon himself to dispose of the body. Commander Adamczyk, Filipiak, and even Pakozs are investigated for covering up Chojnacki’s crimes.

Who Killed Adam?

Adam was kidnapped on the orders of one of the men of the Chojnacki family, who owns the local meat plant and is part of the “conspiracy” connected to sexual abuse committed along with the church. The reason Mother Adam recanted was that the family paid her to silence her, and that shut down the investigation before what had happened could be discovered.

And Adam’s case was not the only one that was silenced, but there are many others in the town’s history, and the same families helped cover them up to avoid a scandal. Nicki was the one who killed Adam, following orders from the Chojnacki family, after kidnapping the boy and him trying to escape. He is the man we see dismembering the boy’s body to hide it at the beginning of the film.

Who is Behind the Abuse Against the Choir Children?

After following some clues, Leopold Bilski discovers that several things point to Chojnacki, who owned several businesses and has great power. Although he is dead, they raid his house and find a memory with several photos that confirm that this man abused several children in the choir. The images reveal that Julia was also one of his victims. She blocked that traumatic memory of her childhood.

Because Chojnacki is dead, he is not responsible for Piotrus‘ kidnapping. So who took Julia’s son and why? Marek Chojnacki, the businessman’s son, becomes a suspect, but they find nothing on the property or evidence against him.

After speaking with Father Wojciech, some of the victims (Michal Pakozs, the son of the police chief, Julia, and Filipiak’s son), and the criminal profiler, the prosecutor understands that the key piece is the girl who appears in the photos, and they have not yet been able to identify her. Furthermore, after speaking with another colleague, he discovers that the kidnapper is obsessed with a local legend: the Kashubian vampires.
