Does Crockett Island Really Exist? The Places of Mike Flanagan’s Supernatural Horror
A mysterious and dark setting is what is presented to us in Midnight Mass, the new series signed by Mike Flanagan. The plot takes place on an island of few souls, Crockett Island, on which people live by fishing and there is only one church. Created and directed by Mike Flanagan – the same as The Hauting of Hill House and The Haunting of Bly Manor – Midnight Mass sees a place at the center of its history: Crockett Island.
After causing the death of a girl for her drunk driving and being arrested, Riley Flynn (Zach Gilford) returns to the island, a small community of just one hundred twenty-seven souls where religious faith is very strong o, at least, it returns to being so with the arrival of Father Paul Hill (Hamish Linklater).
Charismatic and capable of working miracles, this turns life on Crockett Island upside down. The simplest explanation, however, is not the right one and the island finds itself having to deal with a dark and frightening presence. Also in the cast is Kate Siegel (Erin Greene), wife of Flanagan.

The Existence Of Crockett Island
Crockett Island is not a real place. This is confirmed by Mike Flanagan himself who, in some tweets of December 2020, talks about the interruption of filming due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, citing the location of the filming.
Although the cast and crew did not know if and when they could resume work, filming fortunately resumed in August 2020 and the series arrived on Netflix on September 24, 2021. The processing was carried out with punctuality, thanks to the safety measures adopted by all.

Garry Point Park, Richmond Canada
As mentioned, the main location of Midnight Mass is Garry Point Park in Richmond, Canada near Vancouver. The Park is located on the waterfront and boasts numerous historical sites: it is located, to be exact, in the southwestern part of Richmond near Steveston Village. The area where Midnight Mass was filmed was originally built in 1899. Then there are, of course, the beach, the boat docks and some structures.
The Rest Of The Crockett Island Set
As for the houses, the church and the remaining buildings, these were made especially for the series. Some scenes were, in fact, shot at the Bridge Studios in Vancouver. According to House and Whips, the Crockett Island set was dismantled as soon as filming concluded in December 2020. For fans, it will therefore be possible to visit the park without, unfortunately, having the opportunity to see the church and the other buildings in the series.
Where Is Crockett Island Inspired And Where It Is
As reported by Screen Rant , Crockett Island may have been inspired by the similar Roanoke Island , but there is no confirmation on that. On the other hand, it is difficult to understand exactly where Crockett Island can be placed geographically in Midnight Mass. Given the accents used and the fact that it seems to be particularly cold, it is easy to assume that it is, however, an island in North America.
