Brianne Howey has managed to outline the contours of a woman who is at times mean, who seems unable to give her children – in addition to Ginny there is also little Austin (Diesel La Torraca) – what kids need: for her it is essential to seek and then maintain economic stability, a home, a certain well-being, while her children only need emotional balance. A peace and serenity that Georgia, trapped in an eternal adolescence that has not lived as it should have, cannot return to him. And this is precisely the strength of a series that, beyond the dramedy tones, managed to talk about love, relationships between parents and children, and mental well-being in a new way. A success rewarded by Netflix with the return not only of the third season in June, but also with the start of production of the fourth season.

Ginny & Georgia Season 3: Plot

Like the first part of Ginny & Georgia, the second season ended in a big suspense, which seriously complicates the plot of season 3. The end of season 2 ended with Austin running after a patrol car … because his mother was handcuffed inside. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight at the CFDA Awards in October 2014, Brianne Howey (aka Georgia) scoffed that season 3 is “the most deranged season” in the series so far. “We learn a lot about everyone”, he added. “Of course, we continue to delve into mental health and all of those issues, and of course, there is still a lot of fun”.

While talking to The Hollywood Reporter, shortly after the season 2 premiere, former Ginny & Georgia showrunner Debra J. Fisher scoffed at whether the writers’ room had already started planning part 3. “Seeing everyone watching the show and seeing all the enthusiasm for the show, I will say that it was hard not to think about season three and where we want to go”, Fisher told THR at the time. “Because when Sarah [Lampert, the creator of the series] and I introduced the show to Netflix, we showed four seasons, so we know how we want the ending to be. We know what we want the last episode to be like. It is possible, then, that Ginny & Georgia season 4 is the last. However, a new showrunner in command potentially means new opportunities to expand the story beyond Fisher and Lampert’s initial vision. In her double renewal ad post on Instagram on May 17, creator Sarah Lampert wrote: “You don’t even realize what awaits you”.
