Daredevil: Born Again (2025) marks the return of Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock in a solo series within the Marvel Film Universe. This time, history places us at a key moment in Matt’s life, with drastic changes in his environment, the arrival of new allies, and the return of old enemies. The first episodes present a devastating turn: the death of Foggy Nelson at the hands of Bullseye, an event that shakes Matt and leads him to question his role as Daredevil. The first two episodes of Daredevil: Born Again have already been released on Disney+. The Man Without Fear series returns the character of Charlie Cox to the Marvel Film Universe with a new project seven years after the cancellation of the original. And its beginning has been radical and shocking, as promised. Daredevil: Born Again starts with Matt, Karen, and Foggy, the trio of friends who conquered us in the previous bet for Netflix, together again. All three leave their newly released law firm and head to Josie’s bar. However, everything gets out of control when Benjamin Poindexter, aka Bullseye, the antagonist of the third season of the Netflix series, reappears. The villain confronts Matt’s friends outside the bar in a fast-paced sequence shot in which the protagonist, recovering his Daredevil suit, confronts him. The fight takes them from Josie’s backyard to the roof of the building in a scene that ends up taking Foggy’s life, shot by. His death causes Matt to get carried away by anger and try to kill Bullseye by throwing him off the roof, a line he promised not to cross. Although this manages to survive, the protagonist has already shown that he “intended” to kill him, as the producer explains. Amanat claims that is why Poindexter was recovered: “It was the intention: Foggy being an integral part of Matt, Matt realizing that he has to get away from the mask, Matt starting a new life. The only reason he would do that is if his best friend died. If not, this man will always return to violence because Foggy has been his moral compass for years. It was the only thing that made sense in the narrative so we could tell this story. ” Thus, Foggy’s death will henceforth define the arc of the Disney series +. “It puts Matt in a freezing state,” says Winderbaum: “Matt Murdock tries to keep Foggy’s virtues in his absence, but the pressure is going to hit him, and he’s going to explode, as we see at the end of episode 2.” It refers to the sequence in which two corrupt police officers beat the protagonist, and he lets himself be carried away by violence, destroying them.
Winderbaum promises that Foggy’s absence will influence the entire season and will be “a big part of the culmination” of the delivery. He is a man who has lost his identity because he has lost the person who has somehow helped him define himself. It is heartbreaking, it is hard. It has been very hard. Foggy’s Death and the Impact it will Have on the Series?
In the initial minutes of the first episode, it seemed that no time had passed since the last time we saw the trio Matt Murdock, Foggy Nelson, and Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll) together with Nelson’s Meats in the finale of the third season of Daredevil in 2018. The former family shop has become Nelson’s law firm, Murdock & Page, and that’s where the “avocados of the law” work on cases such as Benjamin’s “Dumb Benny” Cafaro, a petty thief filmed by surveillance cameras while stealing 20 cases of expensive wine from a captive warehouse. When a phone call from Dumb Benny diverts Foggy from a glass of O’Melveny liquor to the retirement party of the policeman Cherry (Clark Johnson), an eavesdropping Matt hears the hustle and bustle on the phone. Foggy hid Dumb Benny in his apartment for threats received after “that Red Hook thing”, which Foggy kept silent about, not giving Matt a reason to take on the role of Daredevil.
But that’s exactly what happens when Daredevil runs to save his client from a murderer. It turns out that this is a ploy to drive Daredevil away from Josie’s Bar, which is targeted by the real killer: Bullseye (Wilson Bethel), the marksman who has revenge against “N, M&P. “He wanted to know where you are”, Benny confesses the mute. With Foggy’s guardian devil away, Matt can only listen as he hears Bullseye fire a bullet into Foggy’s chest. The sniper shooting turns into a massacre of policemen at Josie’s Bar, and Bullseye almost shoots and kills Karen before she is saved by Daredevil. After a fight with no holds barred between Bullseye and Daredevil, who bring costumed fighters to the roof, Matt hears it: Foggy’s slow heartbeat stops. Foggy Nelson is dead. An anguished Daredevil sends Bullseye off the roof for four floors to the road below, where Foggy dies in Karen’s bloody arms. (Bullseye survives, but barely).
It was a shocking way to open the first episode of the series, which then spent most of its 58 minutes in the present, after a one-year time jump from Foggy’s death. “I swear to God that if Foggy dies I won’t be well”, reads the reaction of a user posted on social media. Another shocked spectator wrote: “I’m crying. They really killed Foggy”. “Isn’t it possible that they just killed Foggy?!”, reads another stunned reaction. Who Has Killed Foggy Nelson?
The death of Foggy Nelson runs in charge of Bullseye. However, the most knowledgeable fans of the series know that, in reality, Benjamin Pointdexter did not know that Matt Murdock is Daredevil. Therefore, either you have found out in the years that have passed since season 3 up to Daredevil: Born Again, or there is a piece of the puzzle that does not fit. Foggy’s Death in the Comics
The murder of Foggy Nelson in Daredevil: Born Again is a parallel with the comics of the Man without Fear. In Daredevil (Vol. 2) #82, Foggy was killed during a prison visit because the identity of Matt as Daredevil had been exposed, and they knew how close they were. However, in the bullets, there is a glimmer of hope that some fans cling to. And it was discovered shortly afterwards that Foggy had survived the attack. The funeral in his honor and all the tributes were nothing more than a pantomime. Nelson was safe and sound under the FBI’s witness protection program, thanks to the intervention of Vanessa Fisk. Who knows if his death in Daredevil: Born Again has also been faked. Although from the images seen so explicitly, it is difficult to believe in this scenario.
Wilson Fisk is Mayor: What is Your True Plan?
As Matt tries to stay away from the action, Fisk plays his own master game. Although Karen briefly returns for Bullseye’s trial, her relationship with Matt is completely broken.
