Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga has arrived in theaters, and even though it’s been nine years since the last film in the series, it’s as if no time has passed in the Wastelands. Director George Miller returns to his post-apocalyptic Australia to chronicle Furiosa’s formative years. In the film, we see the characters aged from 10 to 28, with Anya Taylor-Joy taking on the role of Furiosa for most of the film and setting foot on Fury Road once again. It is worth pointing out that the film takes place over 148 minutes of footage and focuses on the story of the young Furiosa (a character played by Charlize Theron in “Fury Road”). It turns out that, as the world falls apart, she is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a large Biker Horde led by Warlord Dementus. Thus, sailing through the Wasteland, everyone comes across the Citadel presided over by The Immortan Joe. With intelligence and depth, George Miller masterfully manages to expand the entire Mad Max universe, weaving an engaging plot that adds new nuances to the already rich post-apocalyptic landscape. In Furiosa, Miller introduces not only new elements that help enrich the narrative but also delves into the dynamics of power and survival in a world ravaged by war and desperation. Through this original story, the film explores universal themes such as revenge, offering a more in-depth and complete vision of more characters we have already seen.
Yet even for fans of the saga, who already know what will happen next, the film manages to surprise on several occasions. And to never be seen before. That’s because the prequel doesn’t just fill in gaps in the saga’s chronology, but stands as an essential new chapter that enriches and deepens our understanding of the post-apocalyptic world Miller created. Opening up, possibly, to further chapters. The Australian director and screenwriter gives us a more complete and satisfying, but not definitive, perspective. For most of Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga Furiosa has only one thing on her mind: returning to her home, Green Place. Sometimes Furiosa even plays with a seed given to her by her mother as a token of remembrance of her, to remind herself of what she is fighting to return to. As the film progresses, another thought appears in her mind: revenge. After being taken hostage by warlord Dementus (Chris Hemsworth) and seeing her mother murdered, she can’t muster the courage to return home without inflicting some harm on him as well. After growing up in the Citadel and seeing Immortan Joe interact with Dementus after he conquered Gas Town, Furiosa devises a plan with her confidant, Praetorian Jack, to escape to Green Place. After Dementus besieges Bullet Farm and captures Furiosa and Praetorian Jack, he kills Furiosa’s lover and she manages to escape, severing her arm in the process and making way for her iconic robot arm look.
Furiosa returns to the Citadel and, after revealing Dementus‘ plan to Immortan Joe, devises a plan of her own to enact her revenge. As the Wasteland War lasts 40 days, Furiosa manages to hijack a car and follow a direct path to Dementus. When she finally reaches him, she torments him a bit, reminding him who she is and why she is doing this to him.
From here the film moves on to a surprising motif: the narrative reveals that the true story of what Furiosa did to Dementus is mostly the subject of hearsay and rumor. Some believe that she shot him, others that she tortured him to death, but the Story Man reveals that Furiosa told him the truth. She chained Dementus to a rock in the Citadel and planted there the seed that her mother had given her, where it grew from her body, and, after years of development, she finally produced a fruit. After picking the first piece, Furiosa takes the fruit and shares it with Immortan Joe‘s wives from Mad Max: Fury Road. At the end of the film, he hides the five inside the War Rig and prepares for the events of that film to unfold. Furiosa has become not only satisfied with her revenge but also eager to finally fulfill the promise she made decades before to her mother.

Technically, the footage plays during the credits of Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, including a small sequence at the end of the credits; however, none of the footage featured in the credits of Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga can be considered a “scene”. In reality, the footage is an accelerated version of the entire film Mad Max: Fury Road, which gives a good idea of the symbiotic nature that the two films have with each other as Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga heads towards its conclusion. The final snippet of footage that plays at the end of the credits of Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is one that Fury Road devotees should recognize, the little bobblehead of Nux’s car shaking just as he screams the iconic line “Oh, what a day, what a beautiful day!“.
What Does the End of Furiosa: The Mad Max Saga mean?
For 148 agonizing minutes, Furiosa explained to us the story of its protagonist: We met her as a girl in the Green Place, we witnessed her abduction and the death of her mother at the hands of Doctor Dementus (Hemsworth) and her arrival at the Citadel of Immortan Joe, the warlord whom he will betray in Fury Road. During the final stretch of the film, the road warrior not only sees her partner Jack (Tom Burke) die, but a wound and subsequent torture by Dementus cost her right arm. After returning to the Citadel and replacing the lost limb with that prosthesis that we all know, Furiosa undergoes a radical change of look and faces the final battle against the villain in Gasoline City. Dementus is just on his nerves, so this confrontation ends with him and Furiosa face to face in the middle of the desert.
After recognizing his enemy (something that takes time), the now-dethroned leader assures her that he was also a person with a family and children until the loss of his family and life in the Páramo turned him into a monster. psychotic. And, he assures Furiosa will continue down the same path. After having reviewed some legends about the death of Dementus, History Man’s voice-over reveals what happened: instead of killing his archenemy, Furiosa kept him alive… and used him as a kind of living pot to that peach seed that he kept for years, being the only memory of his home. When the tree bore its first fruit, the Imperator offered it to Immortan Joe’s wives. Thus, they all got on the War Truck for that crazy trip that led them to meet Max Rockatansky. And, if this link were not clear enough, a selection of the most brutal scenes from Fury Road accompanies us during the final credits.
What Happened In The Post-Credit Scene?
In the post-credits scene of “Furiosa”, we can see the bird doll that identified Nux (a character in the franchise played by Nicholas Hoult) staggering in a vehicle. In that sense, although the sequence does not add greater value to the story, it is an indication that the “Mad Max” franchise will continue. It is not yet known what this new George Miller project will focus on, but his followers are already looking forward to it.
