The film Babita Singh Reporting has been released on OTT. Whereas in Bollywood, the character of a police officer has always been presented in a strong and tense manner. On the contrary, Babita Singh is a character in which, after every scene, you see a common woman. The makers did not make anything overdramatic in this film. However, thrill deficiency persists throughout the film. In today’s era, where the audience has become accustomed to watching a lot of crime thriller films, nothing special is visible in it. This series of makers of ‘Kohrra’ and ‘Paatal Lok’ is the story of a police officer, Baby i.e., Babita Singh, who is trying to make her mark in the police station and handle herself amidst the responsibilities of the family. But the mysterious murder of an old friend completely changes his life. Bansi’s death shocks Babita to the core, and she herself starts investigating the matter. Despite opposition from her husband and family, she tries to bring out the truth. During the investigation, the matter becomes not just a police case for him, but a very personal fight. Ultimately, it comes to light that someone close to Bansi is behind her murder. The story is based on Babita’s journey of searching for truth and justice.
Babita Singh Reporting Film Review: The Story Plot
It starts with a police ASI, Babita Singh (Nimisha Sajayan), whom everyone lovingly calls Baby. She needs a few days’ leave because she has to go to her in-laws’ house. But the seniors do not accept leave. Because of this, Baby’s senior (Rajesh Kumar) gives him the option to be suspended for a few days by lying and putting his mistake on Baby’s head. Baby agrees to their request and reaches her in-laws’ house. After reaching there, Baby meets his childhood friend Bansi (Barun Sobti). Bansi calls him to meet in the evening. He wants to tell her something, but she is unable to go because of work. That very night, Bansi is murdered, which hurts Baby a lot. After this, Baby starts investigating his murder. What is the reason behind Bansi’s death? Will Baby be able to find the killer? You will know this only by watching the film.

Nimisha Sajayan has played the character of Babita alias Baby in the film. His acting is amazing. There are many shades in this character which Nimisha presented on camera. Somewhere she has become a common daughter-in-law in her in-laws’ house; somewhere a policeman, and somewhere a friend of a victim. She has looked very good in every form. Barun Sobti’s character Bansi appeared on screen for a short time but left its mark. Anshuman Pushkar has also been seen as a very loving and supportive husband in the role of Sharad Vashishtha. Other actors, including Rajesh Kumar and Naval Sethi, looked good in their roles.
The different thing about this film (Babita Singh Reporting) is that there is no hardcore action, dark scenes, or any big suspense or thrill in this film. The story of the film goes only to solve the mystery of a murder. The real hero of the film is Nimisha Sajayan, i.e., Babita Singh, who is not fearless, domineering, or bossy like the rest. She works a little hesitantly, confused, but her intentions remain firm. She walks with the truth, and she has no deceit in her mind. For Officer Babita Singh, i.e., Baby, duty is first of all, whether it is of the family or his job. The film has been made on a small scale. Sudeep Sharma has previously made series like ‘Paatal Lok’ and ‘Kohrra’.
Both his series were full of crime and thrill, but here he has added a twist to the story and taken it forward slowly, which keeps the audience engaged, but at some places the flow of the story definitely breaks. The direction of the film has been taken over by Ambieca Pandit, who has previously made ‘Black Warrant’. The story of the film has been written by Amita Vyas. In the film, Ambieca has beautifully shown this story of how women have to struggle with the taunts of society everywhere, whether at home or outside. On one hand, Babita hears taunts from her own family members, sometimes for not being able to have a child and sometimes for a job.
Babita’s character creates balance both at home and in society. This attitude towards women has been directed by Ambieka Pandita in a composed manner, where both the stories beautifully become a part of the film. Every character in the film has got equal recognition, and this has been the beauty of Ambieka’s direction. However, after all these good aspects, some scenes of the film seem a bit boring, and the story gets repeated again and again. The film takes a little more time to reach its destination, and it also gets a little.
All the actors in the film have done justice to their respective characters. The backbone of the film is Nimisha Sajayan, who has lived the character of Babita well. Perhaps he is absolutely perfect for this film. As if this character was made for him. In the role of Babita, Nimisha shows the story of every common woman who is still a part of our society. Barun Sobti also seems effective in his character. Although his character in the film is not very much, the more times he is seen in the role of Bansi on screen, the more he looks right. The emotions shown between Bansi and Babita fit the story and look good. However, Barun’s character could have been slightly enhanced by the makers.
Rajesh Sharma (Rajesh Sharma) has done complete justice in the role of SI Sethi. Anshuman Pushkar lived the character of Babita’s husband well. Apart from this, Sunita Rajwar (Sunita Rajwar) has looked amazing as always in the role of Babita’s mother-in-law. Everyone, including Geetika Vidya Olhan, Naval Shukla, and Priya Yadav, looked good in their roles. The pace of investigation is slow; an attempt has been made to keep the atmosphere close to reality, and the mystery is also revealed without haste. Here’s not a list of new suspects or shocking twists every few minutes. The film focuses more on its characters and the struggles within them than on major revelations, and on most occasions this approach proves effective. Slow pace, but the story holds.
The pace of the film may seem slow to some viewers, but the story does not completely take hold. The questions surrounding the investigation maintain curiosity, while Baby’s personal struggles give the story emotional depth. In fact, Babita Singh Reporting is the story of a woman who, while adapting herself to the expectations of others, may have given up on realizing what it feels like to take over the reins of her life. The crime incident brings him to the center of the story, but he himself has to learn to maintain his identity at that place. The film has the essential elements of a good murder mystery, but its biggest success is that it makes the viewer worry about the woman who is investigating the case.

Sudeep Sharma has made this film, and if there are some good things in his film, then there are some flaws in its story, but Nimisha Sajayan has become a big reason to watch the film. While the cinematography of the film is good, the music is not very effective. This film, which came in the era of OTT, gives you a series-like feeling, but perhaps the performance of the characters and its story make it effective. This film shows that women have to struggle with the taunts of society both at home and face double standards. There are no big or long dialogues in the film; rather, due to its small incidents, it gives a big message and brings out the real story. This film is not limited to just a murder mystery, but it is a story of carving oneself between family, responsibilities, society, and thinking. Obviously, this film can definitely be included in your watchlist on weekends.
