In the final stretch of The Continental, as the New York Continental turns into a real battlefield, Winston and his allies launch an attack to kill Cormac and take over the hotel. Desperate, Mel Gibson’s character takes a type of drug that increases his aggression and resistance. He also activates a timed self-destruct device to blow up the entire hotel. Amid the shooting in the hotel lobby and bar, Winston’s allies use the pneumatic package delivery system to drop bombs on various sections of the building. Winston revealed that the press was hidden in Charlie’s car storage room and that he had given it to Mazie, a location that Alta Mesa could not reach. The Adjudicator announced that the High Table would not deal with Winston, considering him a “nobody”, and ordered him to leave the hotel. In a surprising moment, Winston shot the Adjudicator and ordered his assistant to take his body back to the masters of the High Table.
