Rosa is a beautiful woman, who chose a career in the police out of a desire to stand out. Passionate and free, she has a relationship with a married colleague who, after being dumped by her, takes revenge by publishing sexy photos of the girl. On the verge of being left by Javi, Rosa manages to reconcile with him, and they get married and have a baby girl. However, she does not disdain the attentions of her work partner Alber, who even murdered her, killing in cold blood the man who had injured her during a patrol. Alber, desperately in love with her, is perhaps the only one capable of standing up to her. At least until Rosa meets Pedro, a married colleague and father of a child, who instantly becomes infatuated with the woman.

When she is left by Javi, now tired of that loveless marriage, Rosa is ready to live her story with Pedro out in the open. Yet, theirs is a toxic relationship, made up of obsessions, jealous scenes, and reconciliations. On this humus the idea of Pedro’s murder develops, first only sketched out, then gradually more and more real. Rosa and Alber have never stopped seeing each other. Indeed, the woman continues to consider him the man in her life. The only one who can free her from Pedro’s burden. When Pedro is found dead, however, Rosa pretends to be an inconsolable widow. She plays her part so well that she works personally to find out who killed her beloved. She suspects her ex-husband Javi and tells Ester about it. Who, after careful investigations, despite having seen that Pedro’s cell phone was in the vicinity of Javi’s villa, exonerates the man. Why then did Rosa want to put her on the wrong path?

The Trial of Rosa and Albert

When Rosa is arrested, she tells her parents and her lawyer that it was Albert who killed Pedro with an ax and that she hid it for fear that he would hurt her daughter. For her part, Albert indicates that she was the one who murdered her partner because she wanted to end her relationship and he only helped her get rid of her body. Three years later, the trial takes place. While Rosa and Albert blame each other, more evidence emerges against them. Sofía said that she saw her mother covered in blood and a friend of Albert revealed that he asked him for the most effective method to kill someone and not be caught.

Near the end of “Burning Body” Ester presents evidence that Rosa and Albert had planned Pedro’s murder together and details the events. On May 1, 2017, Pedro and Rosa argued, so she called Albert to agree. Although the lover should have had another phone, he got confused and was exposed. Rosa drugged Pedro and sent him to the basement to set rodent traps. When Rodríguez became inconsistent, Rosa hit him with a blunt object. The next day, she sent her daughter to her parents’ house, sent the messages from Pedro’s phone, took the phone to Javi’s house to incriminate him, and disposed of the body with the help of her lover. Finally, the jury finds Rosa and Albert guilty of premeditated murder. The first receives a sentence of 25 years in prison, while Albert is sentenced to 20 years in prison. Both filed appeals, but the Supreme Court rejected them.

Burning Body Ending Explained: Who Killed Pedro?

From the first moment, Rosa accuses Javi and even asks for protection because she fears for her safety and that of her daughter. Because Pedro disappeared on May 2, 2017, and shortly before that his phone was tracked near Javi’s house, Ester begins to investigate Rosa’s and her ex-husband’s past. Javier met Rosa when she was a dancer in a nightclub, and they began a serious relationship, she became an urban police officer and he became a squad boy, but the romance ended due to Peral’s infidelity, who became involved with a superior who released an intimate photograph. After the scandal, Rosa asks to be changed to a new center and files a lawsuit. Javier decides to forgive Rosa, they have a daughter and get married.

However, Rosa becomes involved with her partner Albert, something that everyone at the station knows about and that Javi begins to suspect. In “The Burning Body” as the investigation progresses, Ester realizes that the love triangle is now a square, therefore, she rules out Javier as a suspect and focuses on Rosa and Javier, who assure that her relationship was only physical and ended a long time ago. However, the pieces do not fit, and the inspector interrogates the suspects. Rosa says that her marriage to Javier ended because he left her for Carmen after discovering her cheating with Albert.

Subsequently, she began her relationship with Pedro, who abandoned her husband and son to form a new family with the urban officer. She even proposed to him, and they planned to have a child. Although Rosa claims that Pedro disappeared on May 2 after an argument, Ester does not believe her and suspects that the messages that Rodríguez sent that day were written by his murderer. She confirms this when Rosa’s parents admit that they lied in her testimony when saying that they saw Pedro on the 2nd. In addition, she discovers that on May 1, Rosa, Pedro, and Albert were at Rosa’s house.

The question has a very simple answer: Rosa is responsible for Pedro’s disappearance. Together with her lover Alber, she scrupulously organized the elimination of her partner, trying to place the blame on Javi. Ester comes to this conclusion after questioning Rosa’s parents, who blatantly lie to protect their daughter and give her an alibi. Rosa herself begins to show the first inconsistencies in a new interrogation, showing the insubstantiality of previous statements. Pedro’s ex-wife also supports these doubts, according to which the man’s messages seem to be written by another person. The house of cards collapses miserably. Cell phone triangulation shows that Rosa, Alber, and Pedro were in the same place on the evening of Pedro’s disappearance.

Forensics analyzes Rosa’s house and identifies bloodstains in the basement, where Pedro, stunned by painkillers, was killed. The man’s body was then transported by Rosa and Alber and set Burning Body. To support the theory that the man had left the house spontaneously, the woman kept Pedro’s cell phone with which she sent messages to everyone. After three years of waiting behind bars, the trial begins. Surprisingly, Rosa and Alber accuse each other. The woman claims that she was the man who killed Pedro, out of jealousy. Alber, on the other hand, declares that he only helped the woman to make away with the body of her partner whom she had brutally killed. The jury doesn’t believe their version and finds them both guilty, sentencing Rosa to 25 years in prison and Alber to 20. The series ends with Rosa meeting her daughter Sofia, now a teenager, in prison. She cries because she feels the girl’s contempt.
