Its sequel Gadar 2 has been released after 22 years. In these 22 years, the star named Sunny Deol has become very dim and Anil Sharma’s filmmaking technique has become outdated, but the strength of the Gadar brand is such that even at the age of 66, Sunny Deol starrer movie can be seen in the films of today’s young stars. In comparison, Gajab has got an amazing opening at the box office. Gadar was the story of the period of the India-Pakistan partition. The action-packed film also had high-octane drama, excellent dialogues, and a sweet love story that directly touched the hearts of the audience. The songs of the film were also melodious. In Gadar 2, writer Shaktimaan Talwar and director Anil Sharma have taken forward the story of Tara Singh.

Gadar 2 Movie Review: The Story Plot

The story of the film Gadar where the partition of 1947 was in the backdrop. On the other hand, the story of Gadar 2 is just before the start of the 1971 Indo-Pakistan war. In the previous film, Tara Singh brought back his wife Sakina from Pakistan after facing many difficulties. According to the story of Gadar 2, Tara Singh (Sunny Deol) and Sakina (Ameesha Patel) are living a happy life after returning to India. His son Charanjeet aka Jeete (Utkarsh Sharma) has also grown up now. On the other hand, Major General Hamid Iqbal (Manish Wadhwa) is burning in the fire of revenge in Pakistan, because Tara Singh took Sakina to India after killing 40 soldiers of his regiment. Instead, Hamid got Sakina’s father Ashraf Ali (Amrish Puri) hanged. But he also wants to take revenge on Tara. One day, suddenly Hamid gets a chance to fulfill his wish. Tara’s son Jeete gets caught when he reaches Pakistan due to a misunderstanding. To rescue his son, Tara Singh decides to go to Pakistan once again. Can he succeed in this? You will have to go to the cinema to find out about this.

The story shifts to 1971 and Tara Singh’s son Jeete (Utkarsh Sharma) is now a young man. The story of Gadar 2 is completely Gadar’s. Gadar has been repeated. In Gadar, Tara Singh went to Pakistan to pick up his wife, this time he has gone to Pakistan to pick up his son. There is nothing new in the story written by Shaktimaan as we have seen it in Gadar. Gadar 2 had strong punches, ups and downs, a love story, and strong dialogues, which is missing in Gadar 2. Gadar has been shown thousands of times on TV and most people have seen it more than once. That’s why expectations are very high from Gadar 2, they are not fulfilled. The movie starts with light-hearted scenes of Tara Singh, Jeete, and Sakina. Some comedy scenes are seen, but they are not very effective. After this Sunny is banished from the film and all the burden is put on the shoulders of Utkarsh Sharma. The writer and director forgot here that the audience has come to see Sunny Deol and not Utkarsh. Sunny is lacking in this part and also has to deal with boring sequences. Sunny enters the film after some gap. When his character goes to Pakistan, the drama kicks into gear, and action scenes are witnessed which the audience has been waiting with bated breath.

Gadar 2 Movie Review and Analysis

The film begins with Nana Patekar’s voice-over and selected footage from the previous film reminding the audience of ‘Gadar’. Although the first half of the film is a bit slow, there is a tremendous twist in the story before the interval and the story moves fast in the second half. After the interval, Sunny Deol is seen in full form with excellent action scenes. At the same time, the climax of the film is also strong. Director Anil Sharma has beautifully woven the memories of ‘Gadar’ in Gadar 2, with which the audience can connect emotionally. He has added a perfect tadka of action, emotion, and patriotism to the film. You may not understand the logic of some of the action sequences in the film in many places, but the whistles and applause of the audience will not give you a chance to think much.

Sunny Deol is once again engrossed in the role of Tara Singh. Ameesha Patel has also done good acting in the role of Sakina. And Manish Wadhwa is engrossed in the role of Major General Hamid Iqbal. However, in the matter of acting, Utkarsh still needs more hard work. Both the songs ‘Ud Ja Kale Kanwa’ and ‘Main Nikla Gaddi’ from the previous Gadar are hit in the new film as well. At the same time, its sequel has been announced at the end of the film. That means your wait for ‘Gadar 3’ will not be long. If you are fond of patriotic films, then this weekend you can watch this film with the whole family amidst huge crowds in theaters and audience whistles and applause.

Director Anil Sharma’s style of filmmaking is age-old. In the last few years, technology has also made a lot of progress in film production, but Anil Sharma has not updated with the times. He is known for presenting the story and creating emotion. The making of Gadar 2 is like the old-era films. He has managed to create emotion in the audience in the last hour of the film. He failed to make an impact in the light-hearted scenes. By repeating Gadar’s scenes and songs again and again, they enthralled the audience and tried to tug at the heartstrings of the audience through the nostalgic effect. If we talk about the positive side of the film, Sunny’s hand pump and then the reaction of Pakistanis, Sunny’s pole being uprooted, and Sunny’s roar getting the trousers of the enemies wet, are some of the scenes which are well done. Looking at the relations between India and Pakistan and the current situation, the kind of scenes that most of the viewers want, some spices of that kind are also seen in Gadar 2. The patriotic thread has also been threaded well with the story.

The film is made keeping in mind the single-screen audience who love Tara Singh so much that they don’t need any logic in front of him. Had Tara Singh had more powerful scenes, things would have been different. It is good to see Sunny Deol as Tara Singh once again. Age has crept in, but he has captured the spirit and passion of the character very well and has stirred the audience with his strong man image. He leaves special effects in action and angry scenes. His character did not get strong dialogue. Ameesha Patel as Sakina does not leave much of an impact. Utkarsh Sharma has got exclusive footage. There is also a chance to do songs, romance, and action, but they prove to be the weak link of the film. The track with their love story is boring.

Manish Wadhwa is the main villain. He has done good acting, but here again and again Amrish Puri is remembered. A lot of credit goes to Amrish Puri for the success of Gadar. If the villain is strong, even the hero shines. Other actors in the film give fine support. Some songs are new, but mostly the hit songs of ‘Gadar’ have been used. There is a lack of budget in the action sequences. The artwork, camera work, editing, and background music of the film are average. Gadar 2 is a repeat of the 22-year-old film Gadar, forget the newness but there is no Gadar thing in it. The character of Tara Singh and the franchise value of Gadar are the only links that keep the audience hooked to the film.

The streets of Lahore and the same handpump is the scene in the climax itself when a sword-wielding crowd surrounds Tara Singh in the streets of Lahore and a green-colored handpump is seen in front of him. The handpump uprooting scene in the film ‘Gadar’ has such an impact that what happens after that becomes a glimpse of the cleverness of Anil Sharma’s direction. Anil Sharma directed six more films after the film ‘Gadar’. Directed from Amitabh Bachchan to Priyanka Chopra. But people liked ‘Apne’ in which the Deol family came together in front of the camera. The way Anil Sharma and Sunny Deol complement each other once again in Gadar 2, is the life of this film. Sunny Deol’s hammer scene is a celebration for his fans who turned up to watch the film.

In the last 22 years, two famous actors in the film ‘Gadar’ Amrish Puri and Vivek Shouk left this world. The film is also a tribute to the acting of both of them. Especially in front of Manish Wadhwa, who became the villain of the film this time in place of Amrish Puri, the challenge was more than the rest of the cast. smoking a cigar, In the character of General Hamid Iqbal, who brings a dangerous expression to his face and is ready to kill at every point, Manish did not let the film get unbalanced anywhere. Usually, the villains of his films have been less able to go beyond Ashraf Ali in front of Sunny Deol’s fierce form, but if Manish Wadhwa gets good characters, he can write a new story of villainy in Hindi cinema from here.

Nephew of Laxmikant Pyarelal Wale Pyarelal Sharma has done a good job of giving a new look to the old songs and has also shown his talent in the songs ‘Dil Jhoom’ and ‘Khairiyat’ written by Saeed Qadri. The challenge at the box office for the film Gadar 2 is very strong. The technical team of the film, especially its cinematography and its editing, is of the era of ‘Gadar’. Tinnu Verma has not been able to help show any special innovation in the action sequences as well. The film has to shoulder the burden of the ‘Gadar’ sequel as well as compete with the contemporary story of ‘OMG 2‘ which was released simultaneously. One can only hope that like ‘Gadar’ and ‘Lagaan’ were released on the same day and became superhit films, this time some history can repeat Gadar 2 and ‘OMG 2‘.

The first half of the film is quite light and story-enhancing. In the beginning, Nana Patekar’s voice is heard to tell the background of the characters, which are playing. If you have not seen ‘Gadar’ recently, then you will not need to watch it again to watch Gadar 2, because the entire story of the first story has been shown in the beginning. Gadar 2 will get full numbers of nostalgia. Whether it is the songs of ‘Gadar’ or glimpses of old characters, many memories of the old film will be remembered. In the first half, the story becomes emotional with light. Gadar 2 is a full-on masala entertainer film and all its strength lies in its dialogues. There are many dialogues in the film when applause and whistles will be played.

The weakness of the film is its length. The songs are too many and their length is also enough. Songs come every once in a while, which spoils the pace of the story. This heaviness is felt more after the interval. There are many chase sequences in the second half, which start getting boring after a point. And yes, if after 23 years you are expecting too much logic behind the things happening in the film, then it is your fault, not the makers. One more thing, it is possible that after watching this film, you will lose faith in the power of guns, ammunition, bombs, etc. It seems that all these are just to blow dust and put out the fire in the film. Because there is no one left with them after death.

Gadar 2 Movie Review: The Last Words

Gadar 2 has made the theaters buzz again. People are also coming to the morning show with children, family, and friends. It is a masala film, which gives you all that it promises. Anil Sharma’s direction is good. He has retained the original flavor of the film. Although the first half could have been better. Mithun’s music is good. It is fun listening to the songs. The songs fit with the feel of the film. Overall, mutiny can be seen. If you are a fan of Sunny Deol, then you cannot miss it and if you are a fan of Gadar, then you have to watch it.
