Kojima himself had recently explained that he wanted to revolutionize the world of cinema, but no one expected the good Hideo to go so quickly into action: a few minutes ago the film adaptation of Death Stranding was announced, which Kojima himself will deal with in act as executive producer.

Death Stranding: Movie What We Know

According to reports from Deadline, Kojima Productions is partnering with Alex Lebovici’s Hammerstone Studios, a studio known for producing Bill & Ted Face the Music and Barbarian. Kojima Productions US and Allan Ungar will serve as executive producers. Ungar is no stranger to the world of video games, having directed a short film based on Uncharted starring Nathan Fillion as Nathan Drake.

I could not be more excited about this collaboration with Hammerstone Studios. This is a pivotal moment for the franchise, and I am ready to collaborate with them to bring Death Stranding to the big screen” were the words of Kojima, whose Kojima Productions will take part in the film production.

Alex Lebovici of Hammerstone Studios then took the floor: “We are honored to be able to collaborate with the iconic Hideo Kojima on his first film adaptation. Our goal is to redefine what a video game adaptation can be when you have total freedom creative“. Nothing has yet been leaked regarding the director and cast: eyes, of course, are all focused on Norman Reedus and Lea Seydoux.

Death Stranding Star Cast

The plot of the film has not yet been revealed and no actors are attached to the project. However, Deadline anticipates that the film will introduce new characters and new elements to the universe. It also doesn’t currently have any writers or a director, but the source revealed that the project is a top priority. Hideo Kojima, who claims in his Twitter bio that his body is 70 percent film, also released a statement expressing his excitement. “I couldn’t be more excited about this new partnership with Hammerstone Studios,” said Kojima. “This is a pivotal moment for the franchise and I’m looking forward to collaborating with them to bring Death Stranding to the big screen”.

Lebovici also spoke, adding that it will be a “founded” film and an “authentic” production by Kojima. “We are thrilled and honored to have the opportunity to collaborate with the brilliant and iconic Hideo Kojima on his first film adaptation,” he said. “Unlike other big-budget tentpole video game adaptations, this one will be something much more intimate and grounded. Our goal is to redefine what a video game adaptation could be when you have creative and artistic freedom. This film will be an authentic production of ‘Hideo Kojima’.

After being on everyone’s lips for months, the working title Death Stranding 2  was announced at The Game Awards and featured a trailer starring Norman Reedus, Léa Seydoux and Troy Baker. Kojima’s Metal Gear Solid will also be made into a movie, but updates on that have been rare. But even with the lack of any new official developments, Oscar Isaac, who will play Solid Snake recently said that they “want it to happen” and are “hopeful it will happen”.
