Yashoda Movie Review: The Story

Yashoda (Samantha) is a girl from a middle-class family. Eva joins the hospital of Dr. Madhu (Varalakshmi Sarathkumar) to give birth to a child through surrogacy due to financial needs. Some of the events that take place in Eva, which seems like a separate world, arouse suspicion in Yashoda. Her fellow women, who were admitted to the hospital to give birth to their children along with her, keep disappearing suspiciously. What are these women doing? What did Yashoda do to clear his doubts? What kind of things did she know in that order? Who is this Madhu? The rest of the story is what is the connection between the incidents in this hospital and the two other murders that took place outside.

two stories run parallel in this movie. On the other hand, Hollywood actress Olivia who came to India dies suspiciously. Also, top model Aarushi and prominent businessman Shiva Reddy die in a car accident. A team of military officers Vasudev (Sampat) enters the field to investigate the case. On the other hand, Yashoda (Samantha) from a poor house chooses surrogacy for her sister’s operation. The unborn child in her womb will go to the house of millionaires…she will be taken to Surrogacy Fertility Center ‘Eva’ to keep her healthy. Everyone there is a surrogate. Madhu (Varalakshmi Sarathkumar) and Dr. Gautham (Unni Mukundan) are there to take care of their well-being. What happened after Yashoda went to ‘Eva’? Is this surrogacy fertility centre related to Hollywood actress Olivia who died suspiciously? Did model Aarushi die in a car accident? Or was someone murdered? Why are the world’s richest women secretly coming to India? What is the role of Union Minister Giridhar in this story? You have to watch the movie in theatres to know what the real background of Yashoda is.

Yashoda Movie Review and Analysis

This is a medical mafia story set against the backdrop of surrogacy. Hari-Harish’s directorial duo has opened the screen based on real events. The background of the story, the emotions that touch the mind, and Samantha’s acting are the highlights of the movie. The audience goes straight into Yashoda’s world with the opening scenes of Eva being admitted to the hospital for conception. The directors have succeeded in making the story more bloodthirsty by thrilling the audience with things that seem suspicious. Although understandably, the story revolves around a crime in the name of surrogacy… the suspenseful scenes keep the interest of what happens next. The scenes surrounding motherhood and the life scenes of a few young women who came for surrogate pregnancies were more emotional than the first half.

Yashoda

The real story is in the second half, usually during the criminal investigation, the real facts come out with the little clues found. Such scenes share the thrill. In this story, it seems that their ls are not able to reveal their true colors. That is the main reason why the story lacks thrill. But the backgrounds of Varalakshmi Sarathkumar, Dr. Gautham (Unni Mukundan) and Central Minister (Rao Ramesh) who played the role of Madhu, and the way they met seems interesting. Another aspect of Samantha’s character is seen in the climactic scenes. That too became the highlight of the movie. Samantha’s fight scenes are good. Although the story is full of emotions, it seems that the directors are hesitant to give more thrill to the audience. Another aspect of the film is that it is made on a pan-India scale.

Samantha’s acting as Yashoda is the main strength of the movie. She looks innocent in the beginning and entertains with her gestures, but then she develops another side of herself and cultivates the character. Power was also shown in the moments of struggle. The characters of Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Unni Mukundan and Rauramesh are impressive. Murali Sharma, Sampathraj and Shatru will be seen in their usual roles. The technical departments have brought more flair to the film. Manisharma’s music, Ashok’s artistic talent and Sukumar’s camerawork are seen in every frame of the film. The way Eva designed the hospital and made it look new on screen was great. Conversations are interesting. Director Hari-Harish has shown a new story on screen. But in the way the story is told, there are errors here and there. The directors failed to add more thrill.

As far as technology is concerned, another major strength of this movie is Mani Sharma’s music. He raised the level of the film with his BGM. The artwork and cinematography are good. Pulagam Chinnarayana, Dr. Challa Bhagyalakshmi’s words are impressive. Dialogues are there to convey the feeling of the story rather than a punch. The action sequences are very good. The editor’s performance doesn’t matter. The production values are high as befits the film. Do you remember Ravi Babu’s movie ‘Amaravati’ in which Bhumika played the lead role of Tarakaratna as a villain? Similar to Ravi Babu’s earlier film ‘Anasuya’, ‘Amaravati’ is going to be an interesting story with a different plot and an exciting story. If not, it seems that the original plot revolves around the villain who attacks the pregnant woman.

Yashoda Samantha

Even Ravi Babu deals with this concept to surprise the audience by thinking very differently. Some episodes are very hard-hitting on the sensitive topic of ‘Pregnancy’ which makes it difficult to digest. Even though ‘Amaravati’ is a good thriller, the plot point is difficult to digest. After that experience, now young Tamil directors Hari-Harish. Yashoda is an adventure with a plot reminiscent of ‘Amaravati’. The plot point seems very new in this too. Surprisingly, this will happen. But even in this, it feels a bit awkward to drive the story hard hitting around the sensitive topics of pregnancy and child. Although the Yashoda team is successful in keeping the audience guessing. Yashoda cannot be called super which has pluses as well as minuses. This is not a film that can be thought of as such. Despite the success of Yashoda’s team.

Just watching the first teaser of Yashoda, one can understand that this is a different effort. It is a film with strong content. Hari-Harish has done some different films in Tamil. also thought about Yashoda. The point they have chosen.. should be appreciated for the effort made for it. But the directorial duo struggled to show it convincingly on screen. Gone are the days when celebrities and rich people have children through surrogacy. Recently, Nayantara gave birth to twins in a surrogate pregnancy. Hari-Harish’s point seems to be contemporary in the context of a big discussion around it. But if you think that any conspiracies related to this surrogacy will be shocked by showing them realistically, the audience will get a different kind of shock with an imaginary point. It should be said that this point is not only the strength of the film but also its weakness. Unbelievable to the imagination of the audience.

The most important feature of thriller movies is to arouse suspense as to what will happen next. In this regard, the movie Yashoda was successful to some extent. All the women gather at one place to give birth to children through surrogate pregnancy. Each of them ends up in the center. The story runs interestingly up to a point in the background of the hero’s efforts to solve this mystery. Though the attempt to add elements like comedy and romance was not very fruitful, the directors succeeded in increasing the curiosity of the audience about what was happening there. Even if there are some loose ends related to the heroine’s adventures towards solving the mystery, the episodes feel okay. The first half goes by a little faster.

Soon after the second half begins, Talu gets to know what the story is about. Although the shock factor is well worked out in this, everything seen on the screen seems artificial and gives a mixed feeling. After the original secret was revealed, there were no elements to hold the audience’s interest. If the twist had been revealed before the pre-climax, the story would have been different. After the flashback, the story is about 40 minutes long. The twist regarding the heroine does not excite the audience much. It has been seen in many movies. Pre-climax climax seems stretched they reduce the graph of the movie. Otherwise, the movie is not too boring anywhere. Overall, Yashoda is a must-try movie for those who want to watch different thrillers. It is difficult to make high expectations that it is so.

Yashoda Movie Review: The Last Words

Coming to the technical matters, the directors Hari and Harish have well portrayed the crime in surrogacy based on real incidents. By running the film on two sides, they tried to make it exciting by linking the crime of surrogacy to it. In the first few scenes, after the breaking point of the main story was revealed in the second half, the way the movie was run felt dragging. Mani Sharma’s background music and Sukumar’s cinematography became the major strengths of the film. Pulagam Chinnarayana and Dr. Challa Bhagyalakshmi gave good dialogues to suit the scenes. Producer Sivalenka Krishna Prasad, who has given a classic film like ‘Aditya 369’ to the Telugu audience, has made the film rich. His passion for film is visible on screen.
