George and Tammy: Jessica Chastain And Michael Shannon In The First Photos

The George and Tammy miniseries will tell the story of singer Tammy Wynette and her husband George Jones and the first photos of the project portray the protagonists Jessica Chastain and Michael Shannon. The project will debut on Paramount shortly by the end of 2022.

Jessica Chastain, speaking to George & Tammy’s Vanity Fair, explained: “It was fascinating to me that someone like Tammy Wynette, who sang all those songs like Stand By Your Man, was also married five times. she got married and divorced several times, struggling while living in Nashville and trying to achieve success on her own. She hit the charts several times before meeting George Jones“.

The two artists had married in 1969 and then divorced while remaining close friends.

Michael Shannon remarked: “I think in the end they were both very determined people. They went through some pretty insurmountable situations to get the spotlight.”

The series is based on the book The Three of Us: Growing Up with Tammy and George, written by Georgette Jones, the daughter of the country music star couple, which chronicles the vicissitudes of a troubled family, marked by George’s alcoholism and separation of the two artists four years after the birth of their daughter. Georgette spent many years before finding her voice and becoming a successful singer herself. Sylvia and Bryan Goluboff are the screenwriters of the project.
