Well, one of the most anticipated film Brahmastra released today in theaters with a huge response all over India. The sages received the weapons. Those weapons were being protected from generation to generation. Brahmastra is the great weapon of all weapons including Vanarastra, Nandi Astra, and Agni Astra. It has been broken into three pieces. Who has different protectors? But now there is someone who wants to get those pieces and rejoin the super-powerful Brahmastra. But if those pieces are joined, then this world will be broken into pieces. How will the world survive? Who will save? This is the first part of ‘Brahmastra Part-1′ Shiva.

‘Brahmastra: Part One Shiva’ is seen in a way, it is a good attempt to bring the young generation running away from the Sanat cultures and traditions back towards their axis. Usually, when the process of touching the feet in films is gasped in sliding down from the knees, where the protagonist of the story touches the feet of his superiors at least twice by going up to the toes. The festivity of the film has its colour. A glimpse of the colors, lights and enthusiasm between Dussehra to Diwali is seen in the film. The film also tries to create its separate world slowly from the midst of the present world. The story goes from Delhi to Varanasi via Himachal Pradesh and during this, the entire sequence of an attack on a car is quite thrilling. Amitabh Bachchan is used for his aura in the film, while Mouni Roy manages to make an impact with her intrigues and violent intentions.

Its pacing may waver as rapidly as its attention span, but Brahmastra’s love for light is steady. Frames brim in pyrotechnics, bokeh effects and hues of red, blue, pink, purple and orange powering a blazing spectacle. The VFX conveys an assured imagery alongside the starry allure of rumoured special appearances, surprise special appearances and is-that-who-I-think-it-is appearances.

Multiple people handle the cinematography, which is due to the long delay in the making of the movie. It creates a visibly different look at times. Prakash Kurup’s editing is weak. The narrative has a bloated feeling, and the end especially looks choppy. The writing should have been better in the love track. The visual effects are overdone. Some parts look fine, but overall they lack the big wow factor, especially when done at such a level.

Films so stuffed with special effects need to maintain a balance between parts which are meant to blow us away with their wares, and the parts which allow it to slow down and breathe. The VFX is non-stop (at one point, a troll-like army appears, and disappears), the blaring music keeps wanting to bludgeon us into submission, and we are left yearning for magic.

Ayan Mukerji’s direction is splendid. The dialogues and romance could’ve been streamlined, but the fantasy world and folklore that draw you in are enough to ensure that hardly anybody should walk out of the theatre saying that they didn’t have a good time.
