In the Portuguese film “7 Prisoners”, young men from rural areas are forced to do hard labor. Persecution and modern slavery in South American countries are the subject of this film. In order to survive, the protagonist becomes the slave of his employer in 7 prisoners. But in his search for freedom, the hero is infected by the same mentality. The film shows how greed spares no one and how we all become slaves to wealth and pleasure.

7 Prisoners Plot summary 

Matias is an eighteen-year-old boy who lives with his mother and two sisters in a modest hut on the outskirts of Ariranha. Ana works non-stop on the farm to support her family. Mateus dreams of becoming an engineer, but he works in a junkyard in Sao Paulo to support his family. A realtor, Gilson, helps Mateus and Samuel find a job in the same town. Esquivel and Isaque join them and the Catanduva boys arrive in Sao Paulo. For her new job, Gilson drives her to a remote junkyard. There they get to know their new boss Luca. The boys move behind the junkyard. Luca shows them how to extract copper from rubber and how to separate stainless steel from scrap.

After a week of hard work, Mateus wants to get paid. Luca tells them that he has already compensated their families. He explains that he spent a lot of money on her transportation, housing, and meals. He is under no obligation to pay them until they have paid their debts. Luca even confiscates her smartphones.

Later that night, the four make an unsuccessful attempt to escape. Luca, on the other hand, transforms the junkyard into a prison with barbed wire. Isaque tries to escape, but two police officers arrest him and take him back to the junkyard. He warns them that he will make sure his police colleague Batista pays them a visit should they ever try to escape. Her actions will affect her family, and the four decide to follow Luca’s instructions out of concern for their own safety.

Mateus did not try to hide his life. When he called his mother the next day, she was overjoyed. Her financial situation improved when Luca transferred her money. The influence of money gradually transforms Mateus into the man he once despised. Eventually Mateus becomes Luca and betrays his friends.

Mateus asks Luca to let his buddies go free. Luca reveals to him that he would never let her loose, but he likes Mateus. So he invites Mateus to join him. On the way to the junkyard, Mateus meets Luca’s family. Your joy makes Mateus’ heart beat faster. He hopes to see his mother’s smile one day. When they return to the junkyard, Samuel tries to escape. Mateus arrests him and takes him to prison.
