1899 Netflix: First Look and Star Cast Poster Out From The Makers of Dark

Netflix announces another much-awaited series from the Makers of ‘Dark’. The brand-new mystery series from Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar follows a bunch of immigrants traveling by ship from Europe to New York at the turn of the last century.

In 2018, Friese and Odar inked a significant overall deal with Netflix that sees them completely create projects for the streamer throughout an initial five-year period. After-Dark, their next show shall be 1899, an ambitious period mystery set on a migrant boat sailing from Europe to America.

The creators behind the award-winning German series DARK, which was one the best show off time and excited fans worldwide, have assembled an international cast including Emily Beecham, Aneurin Barnard, Andreas Pietschmann, Miguel Bernardeau, Maciej Musial, Lucas Lynggaard Tønnesen, Rosalie Craig, Clara Rosager, Maria Erwolter, Yann Gael, Mathilde Ollivier, José Pimentão, Isabella Wei, Gabby Wong, Jonas Bloquet, Fflyn Edwards, Alexandre Willaume and Anton Lasser, among others.

The passengers, all of various backgrounds and nationalities, are united of their hopes and desires for a new century and for a brand new future abroad. However once they uncover a second ship adrift on the open sea that had gone lacking for months, their journey takes an surprising flip and their voyage to the promised land turns into a journey right into a nightmare.
